The first Tudor Black Bay GMT ref. 79830RB was released at Baselworld 2018 and it was an immediate success. Following that successful addition to the Black Bay lineup, a model with an opaline dial with a galvanic finish followed and was nicknamed ‘Albino’ like the vintage Rolex GMT Master ref. 6542 ‘Albino’. Not for Watches & Wonders 2024, Tudor has released a Black Bay 58 GMT Black Burgundy 'Coke' Bezel. Not a 41 mm Black Bay like its GMT predecessors but a 39 mm Black Bay 58.

At Watches & Wonders 2024, the oldest watch manufacture in the world presented an updated Patrimony Manual-Winding with a smaller case measuring 39 mm —one millimeter smaller than its predecessor— in diameter and available in either 18K white gold as reference 1410U/000G-H017 or in 18K pink gold as reference 1410U/000R-H018.

Adding to the Tudor Black Bay Master Chronometer lineup comes a new black dial with a black bezel insert model. This notable timepiece combines classic design elements with modern technological advancements. The new Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 'Birch Bark' is powered by a new hi-beat manual wound movement and it comes in Grand Seiko’s Brilliant Hard Titanium reference SLGW003 —regular production— or in 18K rose gold reference SLGW002 —in a limited edition of only 80 pieces. These two new watches feature a new dial inspired by the slender white birch trees that thrive in northern parts of Japan and that grow in profusion near the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. The exquisite pattern echoes the beauty of the birch tree’s bark with its intricate, multi-dimensional texture.

The new Chopard L.U.C —Louis-Ulysse Chopard— Quattro Spirit 25 is the celebratory piece to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Chopard manufacture. Equipped with a 40 mm 18K white gold case, this watch is available in a limited edition of only 100 pieces. Its case in what Chopard refers to as Ethical 18K white gold frames a black Grand Feu enamel dial hand-crafted by Chopard Manufacture's enamel artisan.

This year, Tudor presented several new models we liked. Among them is the first Black Bay 58 in 18K yellow gold ref. ref. M79018V-0006 with a solid matching bracelet also in gold. Equipped with a 39 mm case —12.7 mm thick— and an open display case back, this new Tudor is as good as it gets. With a satin-brushed finish and sporting a gorgeous matte grainy olive green dial, this new solid gold model is for sure one that will become a staple in the Tudor lineup.

As we informed you a week ago, for Watches & Wonders 2024, Vacheron Constantin decided to do a first in the Overseas collection and added four 18K pink gold models with a brand new color to their dials. Our second favorite in this new lineup is the Overseas Chronograph reference 5520V/210R-B966. The warm tones of the 5N pink gold and the intensity of the sunburst green dial create a combination that is pure fire and as sexy as it gets.

Since its debut in 1999, the award-winning Datograph with its unique combination of technical finesse, elaborate artisanal artistry, and exceptional design has turned into a symbol of the pursuit of innovation that has distinguished A. Another great release this year at Watches & Wonders 2024 is the new IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 44. Available in four versions, two in 18K white gold with Horizon Blue ref. IW503703 and Dune ref. IW503704 dials, and another two in 18K in Armor Gold —IWC proprietary alloy—, with either an Obsidian ref. IW503702 or a Silver Moon ref. IW503701 dial.

W&W 2024: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire (Live Pics)

Along with two other new Duometre timepieces, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents the new Duometre Quantieme Lunaire ref. Q604848J —Moon Phase complication. This is also the first Duometre piece to ever be offered in stainless steel. Equipped with a gorgeous convex blue dial, paired with a new case size and design, accentuated by its box-glass sapphire crystal, the new Duometre Quantieme Lunaire is timeless looking.

W&W 2024: Patek Philippe World Time Date ref. 5330G-001 (Live Pics)

Launched as a limited edition at the Patek Philippe grand exhibition ‘Watch Art’ held in Tokyo in June 2023, reference 5330 now enters the manufacture’s regular collection with the release of the new World Time Date ref. 5330G-001. It is distinguished by a patented world first: a date display synchronized with local time; that is, the time in the time zone selected at the 12 o’clock position on the city disk and indicated by the center hands.

One of the most notable releases at Watches & Wonders from Rolex is the new Deepsea in 18K yellow gold with a blue dial and blue cerachrom bezel insert. The new Rolex Deepsea Yellow Gold Blue Dial ref. 136668LB features a blue lacquer dial —the identical hue of blue as the ‘Smurf’ Submariners— bearing the name ‘DEEPSEA’ in powdered yellow. The dial features large Chromalight hour markers and hands, filled with luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow for excellent legibility in dark conditions.

One of the big stars of Watches & Wonders 2024 is the new Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph Platine in a 50-piece limited edition. Equipped with a platinum 42.5 mm case, crown, dial, clasp, and strap stitching —silk and platinum thread— also in platinum, this watch is one of those that takes your breath away. Combining two complications, a tourbillon, and a mono-pusher chronograph, the perfectly legible dial features a large tourbillon aperture at 12 o'clock, while the 45-minute chronograph counter is positioned at 3 o'clock and the power reserve indicator at 6 o'clock.

One of the most impressive and horologically advanced timepieces presented at Watches & Wonders 2024 is the new IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar. IWC now pushes the boundaries once again with its first secular perpetual calendar. In addition to recognizing the different lengths of the months and adding a leap day every four years, the Portugieser Eternal Calendar also takes into account the Gregorian calendar’s complex leap-year exception rules

One of the most unique watches in every sense of the word is the new De Bethune DB28xs Purple Rain ref. DB28xsPR. A purple watch in purple polished grade 5 titanium that is the result of thermal oxidation that De Bethune masters. This is the very first time that the brand has created a watch that has been purpled; however, De Bethune’s expertise goes to great lengths in mastering the art of bluing metals with the use of heat as the old watchmaking technique demands.

Without a doubt, one of our favorite novelties at Watches & Wonders 2024 is the new Zenith DEFY Skyline Chronograph with its dodecagonal bezel, interchangeable bracelet/strap system, and overall timeless look. The Zenith DEFY Skyline Chronograph is fitted with a stainless steel case measuring 42 mm in diameter but that wears slightly smaller and more like 41 mm.

Before heading to Geneva for Watches & Wonders 2024, we were already very excited about the latest addition to the HYT lineup. The new HYT T1 Series is beyond what we expected. Redesigned, better, and more wearable are just some of the words that come to mind after perusing the new watches. As HYT celebrates its 12th anniversary this year 2024, the new HYT T1 is a smaller hydromechanical watch with a case diameter of 45.3 mm, a slightly more slender profile, and a new ergonomic design for optimum comfort.

W&W 2024: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph Moon (Live Pics)

At Watches & Wonders 2024, Jaeger-LeCoultre presented a redesigned Duometre collection with three new models with four spectacular watches that include the Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual, the Duometre Quantieme Lunaire, and the Duometre Chronograph Moon in two variations including a platinum case with a copper-colored dial, and a pink gold case with a silver opaline dial. Both models are enhanced by a hand-stitched alligator strap with small-scale alligator lining.

For Watches & Wonders 2024, Vacheron Constantin decided to do a first in the Overseas collection and added four 18K pink gold models with a brand new color to their dials. The Overseas Self-Winding Date is available in 41 mm as reference 4520V/210R-B967 or with a 35 mm case with a diamond set bezel as reference 4605V/200R-B969. Both watches are simply gorgeous and perfectly sized for unisex wear.
