Since the 1950s, TUDOR has been officially supplying the Marine Nationale —French Navy— with reliable diving watches. The first Pelagos FXD model —"FXD" referring to the extra robust FiXeD strap bars of the watch case— was introduced in 2021, continuing the legacy of TUDOR and the French Navy. After years of use in the field, the Pelagos FXD platform has a proven track record of service. In 2024, the FXD family is expanding to meet the needs of the Aéronautique Navale —French Naval Aviation.

W&W 2024: Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT Black Burgundy 'Coke' Bezel (Live Pics)
The first Tudor Black Bay GMT ref. 79830RB was released at Baselworld 2018 and it was an immediate success. Following that successful addition to the Black Bay lineup, a model with an opaline dial with a galvanic finish followed and was nicknamed ‘Albino’ like the vintage Rolex GMT Master ref. 6542 ‘Albino’. Not for Watches & Wonders 2024, Tudor has released a Black Bay 58 GMT Black Burgundy 'Coke' Bezel. Not a 41 mm Black Bay like its GMT predecessors but a 39 mm Black Bay 58.

Honoring the brand’s first diving watch, Tudor just released the Black Bay 54 ref. M79000N-0001 with a 37 mm case that surprisingly wears slightly larger than its actual size thanks to the low profile of the case. The watch comes with a vintage aura that no other modern Tudor has and this watch feels like a big crown no crown guards Sub. The black dial with its gilt imprints looks vintage from every angle.

From the Editor: Tudor Black Bay GMT S&G 'Root Beer'. Why I Think it was a Weak Release.
While Tudor was onto something with the release of the new Black Bay Pro and I told you already how much I liked it and how much I want one, I don’t feel the same way about the Tudor Black Bay GMT S&G 'Root Beer'. In my humble opinion, this was a weak release that didn’t really capture what Tudor was trying to do here. The new Black Bay GMT S&G ‘Root Beer’ was somewhat inspired by the Rolex GMT-Master 16753 ‘Root Beer’ but not necessarily by the Rolex GMT Master II Everose Gold ref. 126715CHNR as many would think.
From the Editor: Tudor Black Bay Pro. Without a Doubt a Must-Have for Me.
As soon as I received the press release from Tudor and the doors opened at Watches & Wonders 2022, I knew that it was love at first sight when it comes to the new Tudor Black Bay Pro. For more than a decade I have been on the hunt for a vintage Rolex Explorer II ref. 1655 Steve McQueen. Well, after perusing this new watch in Geneva, I am happy to say that the wait is over and I rather have this Tudor than a 1655.
Introducing: Tudor Black Bay Pro. Reminiscent of the Rolex Explorer II ref. 1655.
Very reminiscent of the vintage Rolex Explorer II ref. 1655 Tudor presents a new technical model with a whole new aesthetic named Black Bay Pro. This new watch has a 39 mm stainless case, a fixed 24-hour graduated steel bezel, an orange 24-hour hand and is powered by the in-house calibre MT5652 with built-in GMT function.
From the Editor: Why I think the Tudor Big Block ref. 94300 is Better than a Vintage Rolex Daytona ref. 6265
For nearly half a century, Tudor has made chronographs with an unmistakable look resembling its big brother the Rolex Daytona. Released in 1976 the Tudor ‘Big Block’ chronograph is in my opinion the epitome of a vintage chronograph made to last and to look good forever. Why I think that the Tudor Big Block’ is a much better option than a vintage Rolex Daytona is something I will address later in this article.

W&W 2021: Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 18K Yellow Gold. First Gold Watch for the Brand.
Tudor is launching a unique new version of its popular Black Bay Fifty-Eight model in solid 18K yellow gold with an open case back. Just like with the new Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925, the release of a watch in gold marks another two firsts for a Tudor divers' watch. Among other aesthetic nods to this historical watch, this model offers a case 39 mm in diameter in keeping with the characteristic proportions of the 1950s.
W&W 2021: Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925. First Time for a Case in 925 Silver.
Tudor is launching a unique new version of its popular Black Bay Fifty-Eight model in 925 silver with an open case back. This marks two firsts for a Tudor divers' watch and creating surprising incandescence. The name of the radiant Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 model is, of course, a reference to the precious metal of its case, but also to 1958, the year in which the first Tudor divers' watch waterproof to 200 meters —660 ft—, reference 7924 or "Big Crown," was introduced.
W&W 2021: Tudor Black Bay Chrono with Black Aluminum Bezel Insert ref. 79360N
Since the launch in 1970 of the Oysterdate model, its first chronograph, Tudor has always produced watches that are closely tied to the world of motor sport. Since 1954, Tudor has likewise been constantly improving its professional divers’ watches. The Black Bay Chrono model combines these traditions in a sports chronograph for purists, with contrasting sub-counters and a high-performance automatic Manufacture Calibre, with column wheel and vertical clutch.
Rare Bird: Tudor Chronograph Tiger Oxblood ref. 79280. The Rarest of them All.
Tudor has been around for over half a century making chronographs and has always been considered as the affordable sibling to Rolex. Up until the early 2000s, Tudor watches were available everywhere in the world —including the U.S.—; however, at that time Rolex decided to pull them out of the U.S. as they were cannibalizing Rolex sales. In theory, a Tudor is a Rolex watch but less expensive. Back in the day, Tudor Chronographs were fitted with Rolex crowns and Rolex case backs up until the late 90's when transitional Tudor watches appeared with either a Rolex case back or a Rolex crown only.
Insider: Tudor Pelagos Blue ref. 25600TB. The Best Diving Watch Under $5K.
The Tudor Pelagos was first presented in 2012 as one of the first watches released by Tudor during its revamped era that started in 2010. The first generation of the Tudor Pelagos was only available with a black dial —with a two-liner depth rating— and powered by an ETA 2824 movement. When the Tudor Pelagos Blue ref. 25600TB was presented in 2015, it marked the first time that Tudor would be using an in-house calibre on any watch. The Tudor Pelagos Blue maintains the same titanium and steel 42 mm case construction as its predecessors but powered by the in-house calibre MT5612.
News: Presenting the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue
Ever faithful to its long tradition of blue sports watches, Tudor now offers a Navy Blue version of its flagship model, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight. The Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue gets its name from its color, of course, but also from the year 1958, in which the first Tudor divers’ watch waterproof to 200 meters —660 ft—, reference 7924 or “Big Crown”, was presented. Among other aesthetic nods to this historic watch, this model offers a 39 mm diameter case in 316L stainless steel in keeping with the characteristic proportions of the 1950s.
