The Overseas collection treats itself to a total black look. Two new timepieces are available in a black lacquered dial beautifully framed by the shimmering gleam of the steel case. Launched in 2018, the Overseas dual time model equipped with the 5110 DT automatic Manufacture movement enables simultaneous reading of two time zones, complete with date and day/night indication. The Overseas Lady quartz appears with diamonds on its bezel to light up the path of its hands, while the date is displayed at 3 o'clock. Born in 1955 in the effervescence of the post-war years, the "Cornes de vache" model, named after its characteristic shape of its lugs, quickly established itself as one of the emblematic chronographs of its time. Straight from NYC where we are with Vacheron Constantin and Cory Richards, the renowned climber and photographer. Embodying the beauty of the Earth and Nature, the photographs and videos taken on the dizzying slopes of Everest during Cory Richard’s new attempted ascent will be exhibited at the Vacheron Constantin boutiques around the world. This creative collaboration with the Manufacture has also given rise to an extremely good looking Overseas Dual Time prototype that the explorer wore on his wrist during his ascent. To set the pace for his adventure on the slopes of Everest, Cory Richards wanted to have a watch enabling him to keep track the time in Nepal, as well as back home in the United States. For that purpose, he chose an Overseas Dual Time.

A big highlight of the SIHH 2019 and a true feat of horology is the new Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar. Inspired by the seasonal system from the Japanese Edo Period which divided day and night into six segments —of which the length varied from day to night and from one season to another—, the clocks from this period were equipped with a single or double foliot balance enabling automatic changes in their operating speed. And just like those clocks, the Traditionnelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar beats at a high frequency when worn and on demand, it can be slowed down by pressing a pusher in order to guarantee an extended outstanding power reserve of at least 65 days when the watch is not been worn.

A few months ago while we attended the release of the Vacheron Constantin FiftySix Tourbillon, we visited the Sipsmith distillery in London. Sipsmith is the first copper pot distillery in London in nearly two hundred years. A classic and refreshing London Dry Gin that is bold, complex and very aromatic, this well balanced gin is perfectly suited for a Negroni or a classic Gin and Tonic. As refreshing as the look on the recently launched Vacheron Constantin FiftySix collection, Sipsmith is produced using a complex mix of botanicals that include the fundamental juniper berries —without them you can’t make Gin—, Bulgarian coriander seed, Belgian angelica root, Chinese cassia bark —from the same family as cinnamon—, Italian orris root, Spanish ground almond, Madagascan cinnamon bark, Spanish liquorice root, Seville orange peel and lemon peel.

When we received the press release about the new Vacheron Constantin FiftySix Petrol Blue dial we couldn’t wait until we could see the watches in person at the SIHH 2019. Finally, last week we had a real treat when we got to peruse these two new watches in the metal. This gorgeous new Petrol blue dial with opaline center and sunburst exterior is now available for the stainless steel versions of the FiftySix Self-Winding and the FiftySix Complete Calendar ref. 4000E with moonphase indicator. With an extremely well balanced dial thanks to its double apertures at 12 and a gorgeous moonphase indicator at six o'clock, this is without a doubt, one of the best looking Vacheron Constantin watches out there. Hopefully, these live pictures will get as close as possible to the real beauty of the dials in person.

When you fly across the globe for the launch of a new watch, you know something really special is coming. And when Vacheron Constantin is the one taking you there, you know you’re in for a real treat. After flying from Dallas to London aboard British Airways’ First Class in our favorite aircraft —the Boeing 747—, we arrived at LHR as fresh as lettuce leaves. Upon arrival, we headed straight to the swanky Hotel Café Royal that would be our home away from home for the next two nights. Located in the Soho area not far from Piccadilly Circus, this was the perfect setting for two incredible days with Vacheron Constantin and to celebrate the launch of the new FiftySix Tourbillon we featured here.

Adding up to the already amazing lineup of the Vacheron Constantin FiftySix collection —first unveiled at the SIHH 2018— comes the new FiftySix Tourbillon ref. 6000E/000R-B488. Not only this is the first major complication in the new FiftySix collection, but this is also an automatic tourbillon powered by an ultra-thin movement with a peripheral oscillating weight that enables an even slimmer construction and unobstructed views of the full movement that often gets somewhat blocked by the use of a solid central oscillating weight. The FiftySix collection is a retro-contemporary new line of timepieces that takes its inspiration from the iconic Vacheron Constantin reference 6073 from 1956, hence the name FiftySix.

Available in platinum ref. 4010T/000P-B345 or in 18K 5N pink gold ref. 4010T/000R-B344, this new watch is the perfect modern expression of the grandeur in watchmaking from the oldest watch manufacture in the world. The first generation of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time was discontinued a couple of years ago with the release of the updated Vacheron Constantin Overseas collection presented in 2016. Released at the end of 2017, the new Overseas Dual Time is now powered by an in-house calibre and boasts a new case design and dial layout. Fitted with a 41 mm case —1.5 millimeters smaller than the previous iteration of the Overseas Dual Time ref. 47450—, the watch is available in either 18K 5N rose gold or stainless steel with its iconic bezel evoking Vacheron Constantin’s famous Maltese cross emblem.
News: Vacheron Constantin Launches a Reverse Panda Dial for the Overseas Chronograph and a Black Dial for the Overseas Date
Originally launched in 1996 and revamped in 2004 and in 2016, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas is the perfect sporty yet elegant option offered by this manufacture. While in 2016 the Overseas received its biggest facelift ever, today, Vacheron Constantin has decided to add two new dials to the collection. As a first for the brand and for the Overseas collection comes a glossy black reversed panda dial with silvered chrono registers. The second one is a jet black glossy dial for the Overseas Date model.
