The new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon is the very first automatic tourbillon in this sporty collection. Housed in a 42.5 mm stainless steel case, the new Overseas Tourbillon features a striking translucent lacquered blue dial —sunburst satin-finished base with velvet-finished flange— in the exact same glossy finish as the one on the Overseas Dual Time released last year. With a tourbillon carriage shaped like a Maltese cross, the opening at 6 o’clock reveals its intricate beauty taking the center stage. Equipped with a stainless steel bracelet with half Maltese cross links, the Overseas Tourbillon is also delivered with a blue rubber strap and a blue alligator strap matching the shade of the dial and equipped with an equally interchangeable stainless steel folding clasp.
A true chameleon depending on lighting conditions, the translucent blue-lacquered dial plays with the light like a kaleidoscope. Evolving from a very dark blue all the way to a more of an electric blue, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon is the perfect addition to the already robust and amazing Overseas line.
The Overseas Tourbillon is powered by the automatic ultra-thin calibre 2160. This movement first unveiled in 2018 is composed of 188 parts and is merely 5.65 mm thick using a 22K gold peripheral rotor. The use of a peripheral rotor ensures a clear view of the movement through the display case back. The bridge on the tourbillon carriage is entirely hand-bevelled and the movement is exquisitely finished to the highest standards as this watch bears the Poinçon de Genève —Geneva Seal/Hallmark— which remains the oldest watchmaking certificate in the world, issued by a neutral and independent organization operating under State control.
