One of our favorite releases this year came from Hublot with the new Classic Fusion Ferrari GT. With a completely new case construction where the middle is suspended inside an outer caseband structure that holds the strap and the pushers for the chronograph, this new watch has a slight resemblance of the old Porsche Design ref. 3510 by IWC from the mid 80s. And this is not a bad thing. The new Hublot Classic Fusion Ferrari GT has a lot of substance as well as forward thinking design that brings the automotive world into the equation.

After the huge success of the first round of Hublot watches in partnership with sculptor Richard Orlinski watches released last year, comes the new Hublot Classic Fusion AeroFusion Chronograph Orlinski Mexico ref. 525.GX.0179.RX.ORL18 in a limited edition of 30 pieces in micro-blasted green ceramic. Like a mini sculpture created by Orlinski himself, the Classic Fusion AeroFusion Chronograph Orlinski Mexico features the same case construction as its Hublot-Orlinski predecessors with a polygonal case with 12 facets that resembles the capricious angles on Orlinski’s sculptures using a three-dimensional cambering technique.

Here at WCL we are suckers for good art and especially when works of art are the result of unlimited creativity and true originality. As the official timekeeper for the world cup, Hublot has released the new Big Bang Referee FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 in a limited edition of 2,018 pieces.

After the huge success of the Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire Rainbow, two new watches draw their inspiration from it and make an entrance with a strong punch. The new Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire Galaxy in black and clear sapphire feature bezels set with 48 amethysts and sapphires. With a nice gradient between the 48 stones —but nowhere near to the gradient achieved by Rolex for their Rainbow Daytona—, the color of the stones goes all the way from purple to red in a gradient that includes shades of light blue, violet and bright pink in between.

Another big release from Hublot at Baselworld 2018 and the result of a collaboration we absolutely loved since its introduction in 2016 —you can read about them here. This year, the Hublot Classic Fusion Berluti lineup just got even better with two new chronographs that clearly enrich this collaboration between the Parisian shoemaker and the watchmaker from Nyon. The first watch sports a titanium case and a gorgeous ocean blue dial, while the second one comes in 18K king gold with a burgundy red dial the evokes the color of wine.

Another home run year for Hublot at Baselworld. This Baselworld 2018 Hublot has continued to extend the Big Bang Unico 45 mm collection with four incredible and very unique looking timepieces, one of them and a big favorite for us at WCL this year is the new Hublot Big Bang Unico Red Magic ref. 411.CF.8513.RX. Featuring an ultra glossy polished red ceramic case that is an extremely difficult material to machine, this new Hublot is as sexy as it gets. In a bright red color almost the same hue as the red used by the famous 'red soles' from Christian Louboutin, this is the perfect unisex timepiece and a watch perfectly suited for those that are not shy and live life to the max, because at the end of the day you only live once.

Hublot and Depeche Mode have been partners since 2010 and have supported Charity: Water on three other occasions since 2013. The Hublot Big Bang Unico Depeche Mode in a limited edition of 250 pieces is one of the most unique looking watches released in partnership with this iconic post-modern era band to celebrate their latest album 'Spirit'. As a tribute to the eponymous square in Paris, the 'Place Vendôme' comes the Hublot Classic Fusion Vendôme Collection. Exclusively sold at the Hublot Boutique in Paris situated right across the famous Vendôme column, this Classic Fusion Vendôme features a special Hublot logo at 12 o'clock where the stylized H has been tweaked to feature the Vendôme column on the right part of the letter 'H'. Fitted with a 45 mm case in titanium the watch is somewhat vintage looking and very interesting.

You guys know we are not big fans of the Classic Fusion collection from Hublot; however, this particular watch comes with two things that we really like. The first one, a very good cause behind it and the second one, a spectacular brushed carbon fiber case. The Hublot Classic Fusion Chrono Aero Carbon 'Best Buddies' Limited Edition ref. 525.QX.1799.QR.BBE15 was created as a 100-piece limited edition to support 'Best Buddies International', a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for friendship, employment and leadership training for people with IDD —intellectual and developmental disabilities. This partnership is not surprising at all, as Tom Brady —New England Patriots Quarterback and Best Buddies Global Ambassador— is a huge watchlifestyler and up until now, he had been a well-known friend of Audemars Piguet. However, after this partnership between Hublot and 'Best Buddies International', any chances Brady could've had to work more closely with AP are now long gone.

Without a doubt one of the coolest looking GMT watches out there is the relatively new Hublot Big Bang Unico GMT. With its robust 45 mm case in either titanium ref. 471.NX.7112.RX or
carbon fiber ref. 471.QX.7127.RX, the Big Bang Unico GMT features a graduated bezel with its signature H-shaped titanium screws and a skeletonized home time arrow-shaped hand that allows the wearer keep track of a second time zone.

Last week, we hosted a special evening with a select group of watch collectors at the Hublot Boutique in Dallas, to spend some time with the newly released Hublot Techframe Ferrari 70 years Tourbillon Chronograph in titanium —which we reviewed here— and to learn more about watchmaking as some of our signature Negronis were served. First released at Baselworld 2016, this year at Baselworld 2017, Hublot added two new iterations of the Big Bang MECA-10 which is now also available in Full Magic Gold and in King Gold. Fitted with a 10-day power reserve and a brand new in-house movement that took two years to fully develop from start to end, this watch features an atypical architecture with meccano-type design and also available in micro-blasted titanium and in an 'All Black' limited edition of 500 pieces in polished and micro-blasted black ceramic.
