Enriching its range of travel watches and complications for everyday use Patek Philippe has just released the new Calatrava Travel Time with a 24-hour display as reference 5224R. Equipped with a 42 mm rose gold case the new Patek Philippe Calatrava 24-Hour Display Travel Time ref. 5224R features a new distinctive way of showcasing two time zones with a military 24-hour time display on its dial.
The entirely polished rose gold case is distinguished by its curved two-tier lugs and to maintain the elegance of the case, Patek Philippe has replaced the traditional local time correction pushers on the left caseband with a patented crown-operated correction system.
Fitted with a gorgeous blue dial with different finishes including a circular snailed center, a satin-finished hour circle, and a snailed small seconds counter, the new 24-hour display Travel Time displays the dual time zones with three syringe-shaped hands in rose gold, with luminescent coating for the local hour and minute hands and through a skeletonized hand for the home hour hand.
Enhanced by a double Chemin de Fer minute track scale for the hours and minutes, the 24-hour display features alternating Arabic numerals and baton hour markers, as well as cabochon 5-minute markers that total 44 rose gold appliques. The navy blue dial varies in hues depending on lighting conditions and it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful blue dials executed by Patek Philippe.
Turning over the new Patek Philippe Calatrava 24-Hour Display Travel Time ref. 5224R, one can admire the reworked Patek base calibre 31-260 where a 24-hour mechanism and travel time mechanism have been added. The new automatic calibre 31-260 PS FUS 24H with mini-rotor in platinum and six exquisitely finished bridges makes it possible to have a thin case at only 9.85 mm thick. This movement also includes a patented correction system for the dual time zone whereas by pulling the crown to the intermediate position, one can adjust the local and home time backward and forward in one-hour step adjustments.
On the wrist, the new Patek Philippe Calatrava 24-Hour Display Travel Time ref. 5224R wears true to its size and with impeccable wrist presence. A new Calatrava that despite its somewhat busy dial still looks very elegant and somewhat sporty at the same time. The watch is delivered on a calfskin, nubuck finish, hand-stitched, navy blue strap with a pin buckle.
