This past Thursday, October 17th, 2024, Patek Philippe presented the first new collection in 25 years, a collection that surprisingly took four years to develop. Called by Patek Philippe: “A completely new interpretation of the elegant sporty style” but in reality a square-shaped spoofed line off of the Nautilus collection that should’ve been called a line extension or a Square Nautilus. Endowed with a square-shaped case with rounded corners and a dial adorned with horizontal relief embossing, the new Cubitus collection makes its debut in three versions.
The technical model is the new Cubitus Instantaneous Grand Date with Day of the week and Moon Phases, Reference 5822P-001 in platinum, powered by a new movement with instantaneous displays for which six patent applications have been filed; the vintage touch of the two-tone Cubitus model Reference 5821/1AR-001 in steel and rose gold with a blue sunburst dial; and Cubitus Reference 5821/1A-001 in steel, the very essence of sporting elegance, with an olive-green sunburst dial.
Patek Philippe Cubitus Self-Winding ref. 5821/1A-001
A stainless steel model with an olive green dial combining a square case with rounded edges and a bracelet featuring the manufacture's recognizable stylistic codes. This modern, distinctive design is enhanced by alternating finishes: vertical satin-brushed on the flat surface of the bezel, the top of the case, and the side links of the bracelet; polished on the bezel chamfer, the sides of the case middle and the central bracelet links. The two-part case measuring 45 mm in diameter is distinguished by its elegantly slim fit on the wrist at only 8.3 mm.
The horizontally embossed dial features an elegant olive green color enlivened by a fine sunburst decoration. Its legibility is ensured by white gold applied baton-style hour markers and rounded baton-style hours/minutes hands, all with white luminescent coating. The 3 o’clock date aperture is enhanced by an applied white gold frame.
At the heart of this new model beats self-winding 26-330 S C calibre —derived from 26-330 base calibre introduced in 2019— featuring a stop-seconds device —hacking movement— and other technical innovations notably relating to the winding system. The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the refined architecture and finishing of this movement, including its central 21K gold rotor adorned with the same horizontal motif as the dial a distinctive signature of Cubitus models.
The steel bracelet is equipped with a lockable adjustment system and a patented Patek Philippe fold-over clasp with four independent catches ensuring both comfort and security. Patek Philippe is also offering in the collection new cufflinks to match this watch, with a white gold frame echoing the case shape and a sunburst olive green center enhanced by a horizontally embossed motif reference 205.9821G-010.

Patek Philippe Cubitus Grand Date ref. 5822P
A new complication in a brand new collection. To mark the birth of its new Cubitus collection embodying a unique blend of boldness and elegance, Patek Philippe unveils an all-new model in platinum featuring novel displays combining instantaneous grand date, day, and moon-phase indications.
In keeping with its focus on legibility, precision, and slenderness, Patek Philippe has developed a new movement —calibre 240 PS CI J LU—based on the famous ultra-thin self-winding 240 calibre. In all, the development of this new movement involved the filing of six specific patent applications, notably relating to energy management for the various displays and their simultaneous 18-millisecond jumps. Among other things, these innovations ensure perfect alignment of the grand date numerals and the possibility of correcting all indications at any time.
The grand date is displayed at 12 o'clock through a twin aperture with a beveled embossed frame, using two disks placed on the same plane. The coaxial day and moon-phase indications at 7 o'clock are complemented by an asymmetrical small seconds subdial between 4 and 5 o’clock. White gold applied baton-style hour markers and white gold rounded baton-style hours and minutes hands —all with white luminescent coating— stand out against the sunburst blue, horizontally embossed dial.
The distinctive design of the square platinum case, with its 45 mm diameter and elegantly slender profile —at only 9.6 mm in thickness— is accentuated by the contrast between polished and vertical satin-brushed finishes. The transparent sapphire crystal case-back reveals the movement, with its off-center 22K gold mini-rotor featuring the same horizontal pattern as the dial.
Like all platinum Patek Philippe models, this timepiece is adorned with a diamond —for the first time baguette-cut— set on the bezel at 6 o'clock.
The modern casual chic style is enhanced by a strap in navy blue composite material with a fabric pattern, contrasting cream stitching, and a platinum Cubitus fold-over clasp.
Patek Philippe is also offering in the collection new cufflinks to match this watch, with a white gold frame echoing the shape of the watch case and a sunburst blue, horizontally embossed center reference 205.9821G-001.
