Today, Zenith unveiled a really cool virtual reality video that takes you into the manufacture and also into that secret attic where Charles Vermot safeguarded the El Primero production equipment, enabling Zenith to begin producing its legendary chronograph again in 1984. A hero, a rebel, and a savior. Charles Vermot was a humble yet exceptional character, who unknowingly played a pivotal role in Zenith’s legacy. One of the original watchmakers who worked on the El Primero movement when it was unveiled 50 years ago, Vermot was appalled by the decision the management at the time had taken to cease the production of the El Primero in 1975 as the quartz movement threatened mechanical watchmaking.
During the VR video experience, you’ll be welcomed by Zenith founder Georges Favre-Jacot at the historical Manufacture in Le Locle, experience a typical day for their watchmakers and engineers, and finally, after visiting the secret attic, you will head all the way up to the stratosphere to witness Felix Baumgartner about to make history.
