W&W 2025: Speake-Marin Ripples Gold (Live Photos)

Following the success of the Speake-Marin Ripples and the Ripples Skeleton, now comes the first model in the Speake-Marin Ripples collection to feature a rose gold case. While the new Speake-Marin Ripples Gold is a stunning watch, we have to admit that it looks a lot like a Patek Philippe Nautilus, and that is not bad but it does show a little bit of the status quo that prevails in the Swiss watch industry at the time and how unique groundbreaking designs are very limited nowadays.

The Speake-Marin Ripples Gold is equipped with a 40.3 mm case in 4N 18K rose gold with a thickness of 9.2 mm. The square bezel with rounded shapes features a polished profile with satin-finished surfaces and the watch is fitted with a rhodium-plated brass base, PVD coating Pantone 7531C “Gold Brown” dial.

The dial features 12 three-dimensional horizontal ripples that are satin-finished by hand with polished 4N gold-plated hour and minute hands, a heart-shaped hour hand tip, and a 4N 18K rose gold-plated small seconds counter between 1 and 2 o’clock.

The new Speake-Marin Ripples Gold is powered by the 144-part in-house manufacture automatic calibre SMA03-T with a fully integrated micro-rotor in tungsten that has been finished by hand with a micro-beaded surface and a beautiful hand guilloché motif. This automatic movement provides a power reserve of 52 hours when fully wound.

The Speake-Marin Ripples Gold is delivered on a brown calf leather strap with an embossed denim motif—just like Patek Philippe is doing it these days—and tone-on-tone stitching and secured with a folding buckle in 4N 18K rose gold and titanium. On the wrist, the watch is very nice and wears with incredible wrist presence. The best part is that the new Ripples Gold is priced identical to the Speake-Marin Ripples Skeleton but this watch is in solid gold. Not a bad proposition!

Sticker Price CHF 29,900 Swiss Francs—approx. USD 35,500. More info on Speake-Marin here.
