Following the success of the Santos de Cartier Skeleton released last year, the French maison released a new iteration of this watch at the SIHH 2019. The unmistakable design of the Santos de Cartier with its square case and exposed screws gets even better in the new Santos Skeleton Noctambule with its ADLC steel case —measuring almost 40 mm wide— and skeletonized bridges with superluminova, that at the slightest dimming of the ambient lights glows like a powerful greenish lantern.
Things to Know About the Watch
The Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule features an anthracite grey skeletonized dial, where the bridges where sculpted as Roman numerals revealing the intricacies of the mechanical movement powering this timepiece. Just like all watches in the new generation of the Santos de Cartier, the Noctambule features the 'QuickSwitch' strap interchangeability system and is delivered with two alligator straps: a black one and a grey one.
The Movement
The Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule is powered by the in-house manual wound movement 9612 MC with bridges treated with superluminova. This movement composed of 138 parts and 20 jewels is exquisitely finished. While beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph, the movement provides a power reserve of 3 days when fully wound. Turning the watch over, provides full view of this exquisite movement with plenty of bevelling around the bridges and a vertical satin-brushed finish.
On the Wrist & Pricing
On the wrist, the Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule wears slightly bigger than its actual size. While the size of the watch across the case is only 39.8 mm, the watch actually wears more like a 41 mm one. Without a doubt, a super cool Santos de Cartier that brings a little bit of a stealthy look to the wrist. However, for the price, there are a bunch of much cooler watches out there with even more horological pedigree.
