Endowed with a 42 mm stainless steel case the Piaget Polo S on strap sports a limited edition new dial that is die for. Despite that since the time of its launch we haven’t been the biggest fans of the Piaget Polo S because of its design lacking much originality and looking more like a crossbreed between a Patek Philippe Nautilus, an Aquanaut and the original Piaget Polo, when it comes to this particular new Polo S Green Limited Edition, our stance is completely different. After seeing the watch in the metal sporting this new dial at the SIHH 2019, we have to say that this Piaget Polo S is extremely good looking and one that we would consider wearing without any hesitation.
The beautifully finished dial is a true chameleon in all the sense of the word, as it varies in hues going all the way from somewhat of an emerald green to an electric blueish green just by virtue of moving the watch around and letting the light play with it. Almost like the iridescent effect you get with a mother-of-pearl dial when moving it around.
Featuring a date aperture at 6 o’clock and applied markers, the watch is delivered on a beautiful green alligator strap equipped with a deployant clasp with apparent pin buckle to make the watch dressier.
The new color on its dial makes this Piaget Polo S feel very sophisticated and elegant. A gorgeous watch that exudes the Piaget DNA and design codes the way it should’ve since day one after its release in 2016.
The watch is still powered by the in-house automatic calibre 1110P based off of the ultra reliable in-house calibre 800P. This movement only 4 mm thick, is equipped with 25 jewels and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph —4 Hz— to provide a power reserve of 50 hours. The movement is fully visible via the screwed-in display case back that by the way, is very nicely finished. The movement features a slate gray oscillating weight decorated with circular Côtes de Genève and stamped with the Piaget manufacture coat-of-arms. This watch is available in a limited edition of only 500 pieces.
