W&W 2025: Hublot Big Bang Unico Mint Green Ceramic (Live Photos)

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Big Bang collection, Hublot unveiled more than two dozen new watches, most of them with ceramic or sapphire crystal cases to continue to push the boundaries of both materials science and watchmaking artistry. The new Hublot Big Bang Unico Mint Green Ceramic ref. 441.GS.5221.RX is a perfect example of Hublot’s mastery in ceramic production and one of our favorite watches presented this year at Watches & Wonders 2025.

Hublot has been at the forefront of ceramic innovation in watchmaking, creating colored ceramic, particularly in vivid hues, which represents a significant technical challenge in watchmaking. Hublot's materials engineers have developed a patented high-pressure, high-temperature sintering process that allows the vibrant red pigment to be preserved throughout the ceramic material. The result is a case with exceptional scratch resistance —measuring approximately 1500 Vickers on the hardness scale—combined with a color intensity previously impossible in ceramic watchmaking.

The new Hublot Big Bang Unico Mint Green Ceramic ref. 441.GS.5221.RX maintains the distinctive Big Bang aesthetic with its bold architectural case design, exposed screws, and multi-layered construction. The 42 mm case features a full ceramic construction with a combination of micro-blasted and polished surfaces that highlight the ceramic's unique properties. The crown, pushers, and strap quick-release system pushers are in titanium.

The muted pastel mint green color case is complemented by a flange, numerals, and chrono register in the same color and is equipped with a mint green rubber strap featuring Hublot's quick-release system and a deployant clasp in black ceramic and black-plated titanium. This combination ensures the watch remains comfortable despite its substantial presence on the wrist.

Powering this Big Bang Unico Mint Green Ceramic is Hublot's in-house HUB1280 UNICO automatic movement with flyback chronograph, column-wheel mechanism, and a power reserve of 72 hours.

On the wrist, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Mint Green Ceramic wears true to its size and very nicely.
