To celebrate the milestone 20th anniversary of its iconic Big Bang collection, Hublot has unveiled an extraordinary timepiece that pushes the boundaries of both materials science and watchmaking artistry—the Big Bang 20th Anniversary Red Magic in a limited edition of only 100 pieces.
The most striking feature of this commemorative timepiece is its vibrant red ceramic case. Hublot has been at the forefront of ceramic innovation in watchmaking, and the Red Magic continues this tradition with its proprietary ceramic formulation. Creating colored ceramic, particularly in such a vivid red hue, represents a significant technical challenge in watchmaking. Most ceramic watch cases are limited to black, white, or earth tones due to the manufacturing process that typically burns out pigments during sintering.
Hublot's materials engineers have developed a patented high-pressure, high-temperature sintering process that allows the vibrant red pigment to be preserved throughout the ceramic material. The result is a case with exceptional scratch resistance —measuring approximately 1500 Vickers on the hardness scale—combined with a color intensity previously impossible in ceramic watchmaking.
The Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary Red Magic ref. 431.CF.1313.RX maintains the distinctive Big Bang aesthetic with its bold architectural case design, exposed screws, and multi-layered construction. The 43 mm case features a combination of micro-blasted and polished red ceramic surfaces that highlight the ceramic's unique properties.
The intense red color is complemented by black composite resin elements and titanium hardware. The stamped satin-finished ‘Carbon Effect’ dial is striking with a grey and black pattern that provides excellent contrast against the red outline on the numerals and subdials.
Powering this anniversary edition is Hublot's in-house HUB1280 UNICO automatic movement with flyback chronograph, column-wheel mechanism and a power reserve of 72 hours. The movement equipped with a special gold oscillating weight is visible through the sapphire case back.
The new Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary Red Magic Limited Edition is delivered on a red and black structured rubber strap featuring Hublot's quick-release system and a deployant clasp in black ceramic and black-plated titanium. This combination ensures the watch remains comfortable despite its substantial presence on the wrist.
