Since its release, the Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT Triple Time Zone has been an attention grabber with its sapphire crystal bezel that gives this watch a refinement that makes it as suitable for formal occasions as it is for use outdoors. The new Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE295 is equipped with a stainless steel case measuring 44 mm in diameter and a sapphire crystal bezel in white and green. The green dial with its power reserve indicator between 7 and 8 o’clock and its 24-hour GMT hand is reminiscent of the cliffs of the Hotaka Mountains located not far from the Shinshu Watch Studio where Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are handcrafted.
The green dial on this new model has a pattern that resembles the cliffs of these mountains with a hue of green that resembles the summers in the Hotaka. The hue of green is very difficult to accurately be captured with the camera, but all we can tell you is that is very close to a British racing green in hue. Its rotating bezel with a 24-hour scale is crafted from sapphire glass and is complemented by another 24-hour dial ring display. Together, they allow the wearer to read the time in three time zones. The combination between white and green is out of this world and the watch is stunning in the metal.
The watch is powered by the automatic calibre 9R66 Spring Drive movement with GMT function. This movement provides a power reserve of 72 hours and an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month —±1 second per day. Unfortunately the movement is not visible via the case back as the watch is fitted with a solid case back to ensure a water resistance of 200 meters.
On the wrist, the new Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT Triple Time Zone SBGE295 wears true to its size and extremely well. The color combination is not only very sporty but quite elegant at the same time, making it a perfect watch for any occasion.
