W&W 2025: Armin Strom Dual Time Resonance GMT Manufacture Edition (Live Photos). A 50-piece Limited Edition.

To celebrate 15 years of their fully integrated Manufacture, last year, Armin Strom presented the Dual Time Resonance GMT First Edition reimagining their most historically important innovation. This year for Watches & Wonders 2025, Armin Strom presents a new iteration with the Dual Time Resonance GMT Manufacture Edition in a limited edition of only 50 pieces in stainless steel.

The new Dual Time Resonance GMT Manufacture Edition showcases the brand's resilient approach to harnessing the resonance phenomenon alongside their longstanding commitment to extraordinary hand-finishing, culminating in a dial-side kinetic spectacle unlike anything else in contemporary watchmaking.

The resonance phenomenon is generated by housing two movements in a single case, positioned so the balance wheels naturally influence and regulate each other by sharing vibrations. As these balance wheels oscillate in anti-phase, they gradually synchronize as mirror images—ultimately regulating each other's motion through resonance. Watchmaking's fascination with resonance dates back to 1655, when it was recognized for its potential to achieve both chronometric consistency and timekeeping precision.

Things to Know About the Watch

The Dual Time Resonance GMT Manufacture Edition is equipped with a 39 mm stainless steel case and black subdials that display two independent time zones with hours and minutes indications for each while supporting time zones that deviate from GMT by fractional hours. Day/Night indicators provide AM/PM context for each time zone. While the legibility of the black subdials on this edition is not the best—when it comes to the AM/PM indicators—, the color combination is a total winner with the gorgeous brown alligator strap—Berluti-looking—that completes this watch.

As a side note, the First Edition featured sky-blue grenage dials with black azurage chapter rings and applied polished baton indexes, complemented by rhodium-plated day/night discs, and was a limited release of 25 pieces in 18K white gold.

The Movement

Powering this timepiece is the new 231-part in-house manual calibre Armin Strom ARF22, featuring double hour, double minute, and double day/night indications. The movement delivers a 42-hour power reserve through two independent barrels. The plate and bridges showcase exceptional decoration, with two independent regulation systems connected by a resonance clutch spring—the key to Armin Strom's mastery of resonance first presented in 2016 after three years of intensive research and development.

On the Wrist & Price

On the wrist, the Armin Strom Dual Time Resonance GMT Manufacture Edition wears remarkably well despite its complex mechanics. The slim 39 mm 18K white gold case gives it a surprisingly compact presence—it wears smaller than its stated dimensions would suggest, feeling more like a 38 mm watch.

The case hugs the wrist comfortably with balanced weight distribution, ensuring it sits elegantly without the top-heaviness that sometimes affects complicated watches. The reasonable thickness allows it to slide easily under shirt cuffs when needed, though you'll likely want to display rather than hide this horological achievement.

What makes the wearing experience truly special is the visual animation on the dial side. The synchronized oscillation of the two balance wheels creates a mesmerizing kinetic display that draws attention without being ostentatious.
