Maison Goyard along with Fauré Le Page stand out against other high-end leather makers as they remain more exclusive and hard to get. Goyard originally started as the House of Martin in 1792 by Pierre-Fraçois Martin specialized in box-making, trunk-making, and packing. In 1998 Jean-Michel Signoles —a keen collector and connoisseur of all things Goyard— acquired the company and revived Goyard’s heritage. Re-established as a beacon of timeless elegance, craftsmanship, and exclusivity,
One thing that accentuates Goyard’s exclusivity is the fact that the names leading personalities of the 19th and 20th centuries are to be found in Goyard’s filing cabinet through a system of nominal index cards. Names like Pablo Picasso, Jacques Cartier, the Agnellis, the Rockefellers, Estée Lauder, Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld are found in those cards.
Almost as supple as a pair of Hermès or Sermoneta gloves, these Goyard leather gloves are very well made in 100% lambskin featuring white contrast stitching and lined with the usual Goyard superimposed logs pattern in silk. Available in different sizes and colors, the Goyard leather gloves well suited for fall-like weather and for driving gloves but not necessarily for harsh winters due to its thin silk lining. A perfect match to a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 116500 with cerachrom bezel and white dial.
Now, for the money, we rather suggest going with the orange box or with Sermoneta straight from Italy.
