The latest collection of Vilebrequin —one of our favorite brands here at Watch Collecting Lifestyle—, this time brings a very unique design in collaboration with renowned Italian photographer Massimo Vitali. This special edition swim trunks, feature some of the most captivating images of Massimo Vitali as crystal blue waters wrap a rocky shoreline scattered with sunbathers on these classic Moorea cut from the 70s. Paired along with a Panerai Radiomir GMT 3 Days PAM 421, it really doesn't get more 'Italiano vero' —true Italian. Especially, when Massimo Vitali's name is on the bottom corner of the left leg of this amazing swim trunks.
Massimo Vitali is a world renowned Italian photographer from Como, Italy that is now based out of Lucca and Berlin. Vitali, started his career in the 70s as a photojournalist —right around the time Vilebrequin was first launched in 1971—, and his images of beachscapes have been included in four books —Beach and Disco, Natural Habitats, Landscapes with Figures, and Landscapes with Figures 2—, have been published in magazines and newspapers, and have been exhibited at some of the most important museums in the world including represented the 'Centro de Arte Reina Sofia' in Madrid, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, the Fond National Art Contemporaine in Paris, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris, the Fondation Cartier in Paris, and the Museo Luigi Pecci in Prato.
Vitali's breathtaking images of beaches populated with tourists and sunbathers, that have been captured across Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey and Brazil, are simply pure works of great contemporary art. Now, it gets even better as you can wear a couple of his iconic photographs as you blend in with other sunbathers.
Vitali’s large format images of these seascapes have often been taken from soaring cliff tops or 20ft-high scaffolds assembled specifically for the task. Today, our friends from Saint-Tropez, bring two of his images in two different Moorea swimsuits and a tote bag.
Inspired by surfer’s trunks, the design of the Vilebrequin Moorea swim trunks is timeless and very comfortable. What makes the Vilebrequin Moorea cut so special, is that this swim trunks maintain the original cut and design of when Vilebrequin launched in 1971 and are not too long and not too short —15.6" in length—, furthermore, they are equipped with two very useful side pockets and one back pocket with velcro flap.
Made out of spinnaker canvas—sailing is, after all, the king of sports in the gulf of Saint-Tropez—, the Vilebrequin swimsuits dry more quickly than others while in the sun or the wind. Without at doubt, the Vilebrequin Massimo Vitali Rocks Special Edition will turn into an icon and are already one of those swim trunks that you'll hardly see others wearing as they are ultra exclusive. Next time you are laying by the pool at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore or simply coasting along the Amalfi Coast, make sure this swimsuit is on you.
