On June 21, the midsummer solstice will take place and the days will become shorter, while the nights become longer. This is the day when the Earth's axis is most aligned with the sun, providing us with the longest day of the year. That’s the time when a black PVD watch like the Armin Strom Edge Double Barrel captures the essence of the night dressed in its dark cloak and when a Hendrick's Midsummer Solstice washes away all worries.
Hendrick’s Gin is produced by the family-owned William Grant & Sons distillery in Scottland and their gin is distilled at the Girvan distillery that mainly focuses on distilling whiskey. What makes Hendrick’s so unique is their blend of nine botanicals that include Bulgarian roses and specially selected cucumbers. While the rest of their botanicals —orange peel, yarrow, juniper berries, angelica root, and orris root amongst others—, are more common across most gins, the subtle notes of roses and cucumber make Hendricks’s well suited for mixing with other spirits or liqueurs to create the most perfect summer cocktails.
The new Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice Gin is the latest creation from this Scottish distillery. Crafted in very small batches and in a limited edition —just like the Armin Strom Edge Double Barrel Limited Edition of 100 pieces—, Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice Gin brings a secret floral concoction that makes this gin very light and crisp with strong floral notes of lavender and chamomile. Unusually smooth, Hendrick’s creates their gin in tiny batches of only 500 liters at a time, pretty much like Armin Strom creates their watches in a very limited production of around 400 watches a year.
Bottled in a deep purple glass container, Hendrick's Midsummer Solstice is cloaked in dark like the Armin Strom Edge Double Barrel and ready to take on the long midsummer nights that mark the passing of time and the peak of the summer.
Perfectly suited for brunch time or early day drinking, the floral notes on this gin are subtle but further enhanced as the gin gets mixed with other liquors or ingredients. Enjoy it responsibly in a G&T or enhance that brunch mimosa, salty dog, or St. Germain elderflower spritz. Available in limited batches and once it’s gone, it’s gone. Hendrick’s recommends to drink it with tonic over ice and garnished with a slice of a cucumber and a zest of orange. Being the purists we are, we decided to go with the usual G&T and a slice or zest of lime.
