Yet another very under the radar release from Audemars Piguet and very fitting for ‘Black Friday’. This time cloaked in black ceramic, the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Black Ceramic ref. 15416CE.OO.1225CE.01 is the latest addition to the ‘Double Balancier’ line of Royal Oaks first released in 2016 at the SIHH. The double balance wheel tackles the stabilizing issues by fixing a second balance wheel and balance-spring assembly on the same axis. Fitted with a slate grey openworked dial with pink gold applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating, this watch is truly a stunner. The watch comes with a matching black ceramic Royal Oak bracelet.
The Movement
The new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Black Ceramic ref. 15416CE.OO.1225CE.01 is powered by the in-house automatic calibre 3132. Composed of 245 parts and 38 jewels, the movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours while oscillating at a frequency of 21,600 vph. This movement featuring a patented innovation, involves a complex fabrication procedure that improves the watch’s precision and stability. By incorporating two balance wheels and two hairsprings that are assembled on the same axis, the system oscillates in perfect synchrony. The openworked oscillating weight in 22K rose gold is the icing on the cake. A new addition to the Double Balancier line is the especially engraved case back bearing the inscription ‘Royal Oak Double Balancier’ which was not present on any previous iteration of this particular model.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Black Ceramic ref. 15416CE is exclusively sold at Audemars Piguet Boutiques worldwide.
