W&W 2025: Arnold & Son Constant Force Tourbillon 11 Yellow Gold (Live Photos)

The new Constant Force Tourbillon 11 timepiece by Arnold & Son commemorates the 260th anniversary of John Arnold and his historic collaboration with Abraham-Louis Breguet. This exceptional 41.5 mm watch, crafted in 18K yellow gold and limited to just 11 pieces, features a manual wound movement developed and manufactured entirely in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Things to Know About the Watch

Technically impressive, the timepiece boasts dual barrels providing a remarkable 100-hour power reserve. Its elegant enamel dial showcases a visible constant force mechanism, while the tourbillon regulator can be viewed through the case back. The calibre's architecture draws inspiration from the first tourbillon created by Breguet in 1808, which was based on John Arnold's chronometer movement. This historic regulator, now housed in the British Museum, was Breguet's gift to John Roger Arnold, honoring the scientific partnership and friendship with his father.

Despite language differences and political tensions between their countries, Arnold and Breguet maintained an unshakable friendship. During Breguet's London visits from 1789 to 1791, these two preeminent 18th-century watchmakers exchanged ideas and expertise, advancing horological science beyond national boundaries.

To commemorate his friend's legacy, Breguet incorporated his first tourbillon regulator into John Arnold's Marine Chronometer No. 11. To it he attached an engraved silver plate with the dedication: "The first tourbillon regulator by Breguet incorporated in one of the first works of Arnold. Breguet's homage to the revered memory of Arnold. Presented to his son in the year 1808." This significant historical piece was presented to John Roger Arnold, who had succeeded his father in managing the London workshop and boutique.

To honor both John Arnold and Abraham-Louis Breguet, a special white gold plate has been added to the movement on the Constant Force Tourbillon 11 Yellow Gold and is visible through the display case back.
