From Editor: Come Inside the MB&F M.A.D. House. Their new HQ and Atelier.

While I was in Geneva attending Watches & Wonders 2023 at the end of March and the beginning of this month, I was invited by MB&F to come to see their new headquarters and atelier. The newly opened space is called the MB&F M.A.D. House and it was beyond a pleasant surprise and an honor to be there. While their previous headquarters were located in Old Town Geneva as part of their MB&F M.A.D. Gallery, the new MB&F M.A.D. House is located in the municipality of Carouge about 15 minutes away from the M.A.D Gallery.

Introducing: MB&F LM Perpetual Stainless Steel Salmon Dial. A First for the Brand.

Now, MB&F is adding a stainless steel version with a salmon-colored dial which is one of the most unique combinations presented by the brand. Over the last 18 years, they have rarely crafted cases in stainless steel, and only once they have created a salmon dial. Also, this unique combination is not a limited edition but will be limited by production.

Introducing: MB&F LM2 Palladium. Celebrating 10 Years of the Timepiece with Dual Flying Balances.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the MB&F Legacy Machine No. 2 , the LM2 returns cloaked in palladium in a limited edition of 18 pieces with an aquamarine —light teal green— sunray dial. Initially launched in 18K white gold with a dark grey dial, in 18K red gold with a silver dial and in an 18-piece limited edition in platinum with a blue dial, the LM2 was the first MB&F timepiece to have two suspended balance wheels above its dial.

News: MB&F LAB New Architectural Identity Opens in Singapore and Paris. Extends to Dubai and Bangkok.

It is now over a decade since the MB&F M.A.D.Gallery first opened its doors on Geneva’s Rue Verdaine in 2011, in the heart of the city’s Old Town. A second M.A.D.Gallery opened in Taipei in 2014, the third one in Dubai in January 2016, and a fourth in Hong Kong in October 2018. In collaboration with Voltige Design & Architecture, a highly experienced team with offices in Geneva and Lausanne, MB&F has redefined the interior design and architectural identity for its M.A.D Galleries —starting with the largest of its galleries, located in the famous Dubai Mall.

Breaking News: MB&F LM Sequential EVO Wins the GPHG 2022 Aiguille d'Or Grand Prize

Today, November 10th, 2022, MB&F has been awarded the Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix at the 2022 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG. It took 17 years after the release of their first watch for MB&F to release their first chronograph and its 20th calibre. One movement with two chronographs and multiple timing modes. Conceived with Stephen McDonnell, who previously reinvented the LM perpetual calendar for MB&F, the Legacy Machine Sequential EVO movement incorporates two column-wheel chronographs and a groundbreaking “Twinverter” binary switch, allowing multiple timing modes including split-second and lap timer modes —a combination never seen before in any chronograph.

Introducing: MB&F REUGE MusicMachine 1 Reloaded. Three Limited Editions of 33 Pieces Each.

Back in 2013, MB&F presented their first-ever ‘co-creation’ with REUGE with the MusicMachine 1. Almost a decade later, Maximilian Büsser and his Friends decided it was time to redesign this music box and issue a new edition called the MusicMachine 1 Reloaded. Like the previous MusicMachines, this co-creation is the fruit of a collaboration between MB&F and REUGE, the premier manufacturer of music automatons with more than 155 years of expertise. REUGE was founded in 1865 in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland and after 155 years they’re still the best of the best.

From the Editor: M.A.D.1 RED Edition. Good Luck on the Lottery for the Hottest Watch at the Moment.

After so many inquiries and direct messages via Instagram I felt the need to write an editorial on the new M.A.D.1 RED Edition. First of all, I consider myself very fortunate that after many emails that I sent out to MB&F back when the M.A.D.1 Friends Edition came out last year, I was added to the list of interested people and this gave me access to be one of the first ones to be able to purchase the just released M.A.D.1 RED Edition. I am also very lucky that I was in Geneva for Watches & Wonders 2022 a couple of weeks ago and I was able to collect my piece in person at the M.A.D. Gallery. What an incredible experience to say the least.

Introducing: M.A.D.1 RED Edition. The Saga Continues After the 'Friends Edition'.

Two weeks ago we brought a special feature on the M.A.D.1 Friends Edition here on WCL after almost a whole year since it was launched. While the M.A.D.1 is not an MB&F Machine, but a more accessible timepiece that was created under a different brand, the idea was still generated by Max Büsser himself. The first M.A.D.1 Friends Edition literally broke the internet and it was reserved for ‘Friends’ —suppliers who help MB&F create their MB&F Machines— and to the members of ‘The Tribe’ —the owners of MB&F machines.

Rare Bird: M.A.D. 1 Friends Edition. Exclusively for MB&F Friends and The Tribe.

Before the end of 2021, Max Büsser did the unthinkable releasing a watch priced at CHF 1,900 Swiss Francs —approximately $2,000 USD. Reserved for his friends and what MB&F likes to call The Tribe —the select group of clients that have purchased MB&F watches in the past. The M.A.D. 1 Friends Edition looks a lot like an MB&F but is not one. Between the finishes, the engine, and the craftsmanship, the M.A.D. 1 is just a fun watch that Max Büsser launched because he can. And you know what? We love that.

Introducing: MB&F Orb by L'Epée 1839. A Chiming Desk Clock Like No Other.

At first glance, the Orb clock by MB&F and L’Epée 1839 looks like a futuristic model of an eye with its perfectly formed shiny sphere, and its dial taking the place of the iris and the pupil. But nothing is ever quite what it seems with the collaborative clocks of these two brands. The minimalistic structure is composed of four elytra —that’s the technical word for a beetle’s protective wing covers, in case you were wondering— that not only open up but can also swivel like a transformer to display the Orb in a variety of different positions.

Introducing: MB&F LM FlyingT Allegra X Bulgari. An Unprecedented Collaboration.

Back in 2010, MB&F partnered with Parisian jewelry house Boucheron to create the JwlryMachine. This time, they’ve joined forces with Bulgari out of Rome. The new MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT Allegra X Bulgari was initially motivated by mutual professional respect and subsequently evolved into a strong friendship between Bulgari’s Product Creation Executive Director, Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani; and MB&F’s Founder and Creative Director, Maximilian Büsser.

Introducing: MB&F LM Perpetual EVO Titanium

Almost exactly a year ago, MB&F presented the LM Perpetual EVO fitted with a zirconium case and three different dial plates in black, blue, and atomic orange. At the time, MB&F explained how the EVO suffix marked a significant evolution of the MB&F story thanks to a redesigned, sleeker case, ergonomic double-sprung pushers, an integrated rubber strap, Super-LumiNova, a specially developed ‘FlexRing’ shock-absorbing system, a screw-down crown, and 80 meters of water resistance.

Introducing: MB&F HM10 Panda for ONLY Watch 2021

This year marks the ninth edition of ONLY Watch, a biennial charity auction of one-of-a-kind timepieces where 99 percent of proceeds go to fund research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration primarily affecting young boys. This is the sixth time MB&F has contributed one of its Machines to ONLY Watch, once again going above and beyond in the creation of a truly unique timepiece.

Introducing: MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual Palladium with Aquamarine Dial. A 25-piece Limited Edition.

First presented in 2015, the MB&F LM Perpetual is one of the brand’s absolute superstars. This watch was awarded the Best Calendar Watch prize at the 2016 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève, recognizing the work from independent watchmaker Stephen McDonnell that collaborated with MB&F on the development of this watch that took years to complete.

Eye Candy: MB&F Horological Machine No. 9 Flow. Inspired by Automotive and Aviation Design.

Released in 2018, the MB&F HM9 Flow was presented in two limited editions of 33 pieces each. The watch was conceptualized by Max Büsser and designed by mastermind Eric Giroud. With Guillaume Thévenin who developed the movement, Camile Fournet who worked on the strap and Jean-François Mojon who collaborated on the precision turning of wheels, pinions and axes, amongst other parts.
