The Zenith DEFY Extreme Carl Cox Edition is crafted in a matte micro-blasted finished steel and yellow gold case measuring 45 mm in diameter and fitted with an open dial featuring chronograph counters in the form of miniature vinyl records as an ode to the DJ. Two straps are offered with the watch to fully experience the interchangeability of the watch and the case features pusher protectors and a dodecagonal bezel crafted in 18K yellow gold. The watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet matching the finish of the case. The watch is water resistant to 200 meters.

The Zenith DEFY Extreme Carl Cox Edition watch features a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock for the 1/100th of a second mainspring, a 30-minute chrono counter at 3, a chrono seconds register at 6, and a small running seconds at 9 o’clock. All three registers are shaped and grooved like vinyl records. All hands relating to the chronograph feature red tips and the measurement goes down to 1/100th of a second. The power reserve indicator features an On/Off as in the DJ mixing controllers. The applied markers and hands are all in gold to match the bezel and pusher guards.

The Movement

Powering the Zenith DEFY Extreme Carl Cox limited edition is the Zenith calibre El Primero 9004. The El Primero 21 is the culmination of over 50 years of perfecting the automatic chronograph at the Zenith manufacture. This automatic chronograph movement is equipped with two regulating organs and escapements, one beating at 5Hz for timekeeping, and the other at an incredible 50Hz to offer a true 1/100th of a second chronograph display. The movement features a special linear power reserve indicator and provides a power reserve of 50 hours. Visible via the display case back, the black open-worked star-shaped oscillating weight rises in all glory.
