As I wrap up the year here at WCL, I decided to put together a list of my favorite 12 watches of 2023. Each of these watches sang to me one way or another during 2023 so I thought it would be good to share with all of you and celebrate each of the months of the year that is now ending. There is a little bit of everything for everyone, from Vacheron Constantin to Ferdinand Berthoud and everything in between including IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Tudor. Thousands of tiny stars seem to sparkle on the dark-blue dial of the new A. Lange & Söhne Little Lange 1 Moon Phase in its 18K white gold case with or without diamonds on its bezel. It is coated with dark-blue gold flux that shimmers with a copper hue. A white gold moon accurately orbits along its course beneath the iconic Lange outsize date. Watches & Wonders 2020: A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Minute Repeater
For the first time ever in a mechanical watch, the new A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Minute Repeater combines a jumping numerals display with a decimal minute repeater. As a sequel to its launch in 2015, the new Zeitwerk Minute Repeater comes in a 30-piece limited edition in 18K white gold with a 44.2 mm case and a deep blue solid silver dial. A totally new interpretation of the classic complication, the striking mechanism sounds in ten-minute intervals instead of quarter-hours with double strikes.

This year, A. Lange & Söhne has decided to add two new 18K pink gold models to the successful 1815 Chronograph collection. Endowed with column-wheel mechanism, a flyback function and a pulsometer scale, the two new watches are available with black —ref. 414.031— or silvered colored —ref. 414.032— dials. While the black dial version is a very nice watch, there is something about the silvered colored dial model that we absolutely love.

Last week at the SIHH 2017 in Geneva, A. Lange & Söhne unveiled a new variation of the Lange 31 —up until now only available in platinum as ref. 130.025 or in 18K rose gold as ref. 130.032— in 18K white gold with a grey dial. In 2002, the A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Moon Phase was first presented by this manufacture from Saxony. The Lange 1 Moon Phase is without a doubt the most successful watch from A. Lange & Söhne with its highly popular astronomical complication. Without a doubt, one of the most unique and coolest watches from A. Lange & Söhne is the Zeitwerk model. However, if you want to think of an even cooler Zeitwerk —if that is even possible—, you need to think of the 100-piece limited edition Zeitwerk Luminous in platinum ref. 140.035. Originally launched in 2010, this is one of the most coveted Lange timepieces out there as the 100 pieces that were made, quickly sold out.
