Here's another one of our favorite pieces from IWC this year at the SIHH 2016 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève. For three years now, IWC has returned to the theme of Saint-Exupéry’s 'Little Prince' with special editions. At the SIHH 2016, four Pilot’s Watches were presented featuring the typical midnight blue dial and brown calfskin strap with beige contrast stitching, typical of the 'Le Petit Prince' limited editions. The new IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Edition 'Le Petit Prince' ref. IW327004 features a satin-brushed 40 mm stainless steel case with a gorgeous brown calfskin Santoni strap with orange liner.
The IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Edition 'Le Petit Prince' like all other three 'Little Prince' editions launched this year at the SIHH 2016, is fitted with a very unique and stunning midnight blue sunburst dial with white indices and Arabic numerals. The date aperture at 3 o'clock is nice and clean without any type of frame and the propeller-shaped hands are equipped with powerful superluminova. The dial is a true chameleon depending on the lighting conditions.
The new IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Edition 'Le Petit Prince' is powered by the automatic calibre 30110 with 21 jewels and which provides a power reserve of 42 hours when fully wound. The movement is protected against magnetic fields by a soft-iron inner ring and the watch is fitted with a solid case back engraved with an image of Saint-Exupery's 'Little Prince'. The watch is fitted with a screw-down crown, hacking seconds and a water resistance of 60 meters.
On the wrist, the watch wears very comfortably and true to its size. Its midnight blue dial is a real stunner making this watch not only very special from a limitation standpoint but also from its overall looks. Easy to pair with a suit or casual clothes, the new IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Edition 'Le Petit Prince' is a must have for those in love with blue dials. While this is a special edition 'Le Petit Prince', there is no limitation in terms of number of pieces produced.
