Continuing with our extensive coverage of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie SIHH 2015, we bring you another novelty —with its live pictures— presented by IWC Schaffhausen this year. The new IWC Portugieser Yacht Club is now also available in 18K red gold under ref. IW390501 and its case has been downsized from 45.4 mm to 43.5 mm. While this change in size seems barely noticeable in the numbers, it does make a big difference in the way the watch wears now. Powered by the in-house automatic calibre 89361, the new IWC Portugieser Yacht Club the chronograph demonstrates its sporting qualities with a flyback function and an additional flange with quarter-second calibration for short stop times. Stop times longer than a minute are shown like the time of day on a separate analogue subdial. The new IWC Portugieser is available in stainless steel with its classic silver dial ref. IW390502 and in a new stainless steel ardoise slate dial variation ref. IW390503. The IWC Portugieser Yacht Club is fitted with a black rubber strap with deployant buckle for added marine activities comfort.
The new IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph is the sportiest timepiece in a watch family steeped in tradition. At the request of many watch lovers and to mark the 75th Portugieser —Portuguese— anniversary, the model is now slightly smaller. The Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph has crown protection and is the only Portugieser model to feature luminescent hands and indices. Thanks to discreet modifications to the design, the chronograph now looks more luxurious and more balanced.
Sticker Price $24,900 USD for 18K red gold ref. IW390501 and $13,300 USD for stainless steel references IW390502 and IW390503. For more info on IWC Schaffhausen click here.
