Along with all the novelties from Rolex we have already brought you, Rolex presented three new colors for the Oyster Perpetual: lavender, pistachio, and beige. The three new colors are available for the stainless steel models in 28 mm, 31 mm, 34 mm, 36 mm, and 41 mm. These new dials are a great addition to the other dials that are still available.
The vibrant colors that define the Oyster Perpetual collection begin their journey as a fine lacquer, a material chosen not only for its vividness but for its ability to reflect light in a way that brings each dial to life. This lacquer is applied with extreme care in a specially controlled environment, meticulously sealed off from dust, moisture, and any airborne particles that could compromise the purity of the finish. Precision here is everything—each step takes place under conditions more akin to a laboratory than a typical workshop.
Once the lacquer is ready, it’s layered onto the brass base of the dial. This process is done slowly and deliberately, with six individual coats applied to build up a perfectly smooth and uniform surface. Each layer is allowed to set properly before the next is added, creating depth and consistency that give the dial its signature clarity and presence. After the sixth coat, the surface is varnished and then painstakingly polished to bring out the full brilliance, richness, and saturation of the color—whether it’s a soft pastel or a bold, electric hue.
With the color fully realized, attention turns to the finer details. Inscriptions are carefully pad printed onto the dial, each letter and baton marker applied with precision to ensure sharpness and alignment. The Rolex crown are hand-applied and riveted, a delicate process that adds depth and tactile dimension to the otherwise flat dial. Every element must align perfectly—both visually and mechanically—so that the dial is not just beautiful, but functional and enduring.
All three dials are extremely nice but if we had to pick one, it would be the pistachio colored followed by the beige one. The Oyster Perpetual collection keeps getting better and better.
