Towards the end of September of 2017, Roger Dubuis announced the Aventador S orange and yellow watches as the first timepieces to come out from their partnership with the supercar maker from Sant’Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini. A year and a half later, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S blue was released to further this strategic partnership. Cloaked in blue, red and with a striking multilayered carbon case, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S is a double tourbillon that combines the horological prowess of the Horloger Genevois and the automotive power look of a Lambo.
Things to Know About the Watch
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S is fitted with a 45 mm skeletonized Excalibur Spider case and in a limited edition of 88 pieces like its predecessors, the orange and yellow Aventador S watches. This watch features the Neptune Blue paint code from Lamborghini with a multilayered carbon and titanium case with a skeletonized dial with rhodium-plated, black and red flange, rhodium-plated indexes filled with white luminous superluminova, black PVD 18K gold hour and minute hands with red transfer and white luminous superluminova tips.
Matching the color of the numbers on its bezel, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S Blue is equipped with a bi-material strap with black rubber base and neptune blue Alcantara inlay with red contrast stitching and a titanium black DLC adjustable folding clasp. The rubberized crown is also in matching neptune blue.
The Movement
The Excalibur Aventador S Blue is powered by the newly developed in-house Duotor calibre RD103SQ. This Lamborghini-exclusive Roger Dubuis manual movement with double sprung balances embodies an ongoing evolution of the Maison’s expertise and is stamped with the Poinçon de Genève as it is the norm with Roger Dubuis timepieces. The Duotor calibre is notably distinguished by engine strut bars revisiting the iconic Roger Dubuis Astral Skeleton principle. Recalling the placement of Lamborghini engines, the double balance wheel is inclined at a similar angle, supported and highlighted by holders shaped like triangular wheel suspension assemblies. The movement is composed of 312 parts and 49 jewels to provide a power reserve of 40 hours when fully wound while beating at a frequency of 57,600 vph —2 x 4 Hz.
