The new Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase watch is presented in titanium with shades of blue and grey and continues to explore contemporary complications. It remains true to the signature codes of Piaget’s style, which is full of graceful thinness, bold materials, and inherent elegance. After showcasing the colors of a masterful skeleton movement in 2021 and featuring an ultra-thin perpetual calendar in 2023, the Piaget Polo watch is set to shine in 2025 with a remarkable combination of a flying tourbillon and an astronomical moon phase display.
Following its impressive presence on the Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon watch, the flying tourbillon will reveal its beating heart in another of Maison Piaget’s celebrated watch cases, continuing the tradition of ultra-thin elegance. To mark the launch of this poetic and iconic complication, the Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase will take center stage adorned in Piaget’s most iconic color: blue, a long-standing visual signature of the Maison.
The Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase showcases a signature style that defines its aesthetics, combined with a strong emphasis on technical excellence. Demonstrating the brand's expertise in ultra-thin watchmaking, this watch boasts an overall thickness of just 9.8 mm, thanks to its 4 mm thick calibre, the 642P. The Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase is housed in a 44 mm titanium case with alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces, elegantly defying expectations.
The hand-wound Caliber 642P shares this ultra-thin attribute, with an overall thickness of just 4 mm. It mirrors the 600P’s sleek architecture, flying tourbillon, and intricately designed tourbillon cage shaped like a stylized "P." Additionally, it incorporates the components necessary to display the moon phase, with only a subtle increase in thickness of 0.5 mm.
Light yet incredibly strong, this material has earned its place among the most prestigious alloys, not for its rarity but for its exceptional performance. It retains all its properties when colored using the PVD technique. This latest creation features blue case flanks and a blue crown insert that elegantly matches the dial, showcasing their unique shade and gadroons—a visual signature that has defined the Piaget Polo collection since its inception in 1979.
Piaget draws on its history as a designer, developer, and manufacturer of mechanical movements with complications to present an updated version of its Caliber 600P, once celebrated as the thinnest tourbillon ever created.
The wearer can admire the movement on one side, and the moon phase display is positioned at 6 o'clock. Turning the watch over reveals a small transparent sapphire crystal opening that showcases the back of the flying tourbillon cage and its movement.
The Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase embodies both discretion and performance, making the moon phase complication a perfect complement to the piece. The moon phase display is noted for its precision, described as "astronomical." The watch is delivered on a blue rubber strap with a deployant double folding clasp.
