Named 'luce' —Italian word for light— after its 46-diamond encrusted bezel that seems to light up like a light, the 35.6 mm case available in stainless steel or gold is perfectly sized to adorned the wrist of most ladies. Things to Know About this Watch
Unlike the men's reference 5167 of the Patek Philippe Aquanaut, the Ladies Aquanaut Luce features a dial that is just like the first dial on the Patek Philippe Aquanaut ref. 5065 launched in 1997 —you can read all about this reference here. This dial featuring an embossed raised guilloché motif mirroring the texture of its 'tropical' natural rubber strap comes with white applied Arabic numerals and a white minute track.
Both hands and markers features bright luminescent material and the bezel offers an array of sparkles, shimmers and glows thanks to its 46 encrusted diamonds that total approximately one carat. The quality of the stones is as high as it gets considering that watchmakers scrutinize the diamond batch that they work from. Fitted with a matching blue greyish tropical strap, the diamonds come to life against the color combination of the dial and strap.
Fitted with a stainless steel satin-brushed finished case with alternating highly polished areas and a slightly rounded satin-brushed bezel, the screw-down crown guarantees water resistance to 120 meters. Designed in a way where it would be the perfect go-to Patek for water activities —hence its name Aquanaut—, this ladies Aquanaut is our favorite reference thanks to the interesting color hue of its dial and strap.
The tropical strap, just like the rubber strap for reference 5167 is made of the highest grade natural rubber and in the exact same color of the dial for a perfect match. The strap is equipped with an Aquanaut folding clasp in matching stainless steel. Perhaps the biggest downside to the Aquanaut —yesterday and today— is the need to cut the rubber strap to the exact size of the owner's wrist —a sizing operation that could be quite tricky and that allows no room for error if you cut it too short.
The Movement
Perhaps the only thing we are not as thrilled about is that the Patek Philippe Ladies Aquanaut Luce Misty Blue ref. 5067A-025 is powered by a quartz movement. The Patek Philippe Quartz Calibre E23-250 S C features a date function and a center sweep seconds hand that happens to be a really cool feature on a battery operated watch. The movement is protected by a solid case back like that on the first Aquanaut ref. 5060 and the battery is expected to last almost five years.
