A perfect addition to the Patek Philippe Aquanaut line is the new Aquanaut Chronograph ref. 5968R in 18K rose gold just released at Watches & Wonders 2023. Endowed with the calibre CH 28-520 C an automatic movement with flyback chronograph, Patek gives the Aquanaut an edgier look and feel. The already sporty model just became bolder and better with a 18K rose gold case measuring 42.2 mm in diameter and a thickness of 11.9 mm and equipped with a brown rubber strap with double folding clasp.
The sunburst brown dial features a black-gradient rim, embossed with Aquanaut pattern, gold applied numerals with white luminescent coating provide excellent legibility, applied Arabic numerals in rose gold and the broad baton hands, all with luminous coatings.
The new Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph ref. 5968R is powered by the automatic calibre CH 28-520 C with flyback chronograph. This movement is composed of 308 parts and 32 jewels. The movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph and provides a power reserve of 55 hours when fully wound. This is the very same movement powering the Nautilus Chronograph ref. 5980.
On the wrist, the new Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph ref. 5968R wears true to its size and slightly top heavy due to its gold nature. The watch doesn't wear that much bigger than the Aquanaut ref. 5167 which is 2.2 mm smaller and at least half thinner.
