As an exclusive for authorized watch dealer Westime in Southern California, Zenith released a 25-piece limited edition in bronze and titanium of the iconic Heritage Pilot Type 20, enhanced by a deep blue dial. This edition produced especially for Westime and only available through them, features an intense blue dial surrounded by a 45 mm sturdy bronze and titanium case. This new watch is delivered on a vintage blue calfskin strap with white stitching near the lug area as well as with a chestnut brown leather NATO variation with off-white contrast stitching, that has never been seen before on any other Zenith Pilot Type 20 Montre d'Aeronef.
Endowed with design codes and a powerful character, the Zenith Heritage Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Westime edition ref. 29.2432.679/57.C791 testifies to the pioneering role played by Zenith in conquering the skies. It features the DNA of the onboard instruments developed by the Manufacture in the early days of aviation: a high-precision mechanism, an imposing diameter, a large ratcheted crown enabling adjustment even with gloved hands, oversized luminescent Arabic numerals fully made of superluminova, as well as stylized hands ensuring perfect legibility. To make things more interesting, this time the watch case combines two different metals. The sturdy 45 mm x 14.25 mm case and its large screw-lock crown are made of bronze, a highly resistant anti-magnetic alloy that acquires a natural patina giving it a unique vintage touch and rounded out by a brushed titanium bezel that frames the matte blue dial. This color scheme is echoed by white stitching on a blue calfskin strap with titanium pin buckle, while a chestnut brown distressed leather NATO version radiates the same authentic spirit.
Just like all the other time only Zenith Pilot Type 20 watches, the Zenith Heritage Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Westime Edition is also powered by the automatic Zenith Elite Calibre 679 with central hours, minutes and seconds. The movement composed of 126 parts beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph to provide a power reserve of 50 hours when fully wound. In a nod to its fabled origins, the solid titanium case back protecting the movement, features a depiction of the plane flown by Louis Blériot, who crossed the Channel in 1909 with his Zenith watch firmly strapped to his wrist, guided by Zenith onboard instruments. The small plate affixed to the left caseband of the watch bears the engraving 'California' along with the limitation information 'XX/25'. This watch is available in a exclusive limited edition of only 25 pieces.
