Trilobe is a craftsman who shapes time. Since the release of the Nuit Fantastique and after receiving the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève —GPHG— Prix de la Petite Aiguille in 2022, the brand deliberately kept renewing itself in an ongoing way. For the first time, the brand is presenting a timepiece adorned with a moon phase complication in a new collection named Les Matinaux Collection L’Heure Exquise 'The Exquisite Hour'. Six new watches in this new lineup are either cased in Grade 5 Titanium or 18K Rose Gold. The case is available in a diameter of 40.5 mm or 38.5 mm.
In this new temporal setting, an enchanting celestial door opens at the heart of the dial, within a polished and satin-finished flange. It reveals a ballet of stars dancing on a sapphire crystal to the rhythm of the seconds. Beneath this celestial waltz, two moons intertwine in a rhythmic you-and-me. They face each other in the night sky of the sunray disc.
On a sand-blasted dial —Blue, Dune, or Secret—, Trilobe takes its eccentric complication one step further with a waltz of moons. A gear wheel with 59 cogs evokes the orbit of the Moon around the Earth, completing a full cycle of 29.5 days. Through this mechanism, the moons quietly reveal their age. For the first time, the moon phase is co-axially linked to the seconds wheel, under a dynamic and mesmerizing starry sky. Les Matinaux now bears the brand’s first complication.
Through its dreamlike essence, the moon phase resonates with Trilobe’s guiding principle to re-enchant the relationship with time. To savor the ‘exquisite hour’ is letting yourself be carried away by the emotion of a starry sky from your window, by the palpable excitement of a bright full moon in the darkness.
The elegant dial with its matt, sand-blasted finish is a real technical challenge. It defies symmetrical shapes, and is made up of five parts, three of which are in permanent rotation, in an anti-clockwise direction with the largest ring for the hours; the middle one for the minutes; and the starry sapphire glass rotating to the rhythm of the seconds.
The hour and minute rings continue to run smoothly across the dial, but a slight tilt of the numerals accentuates the movement of the discs, highlighting the passage of time. A single trilobe now serves as the indicator for the hours and minutes, while the seconds flow freely across the dial through a starry sapphire glass.
The ‘Secret’ Edition, is an invitation to immortalize a precious moment poetically. The starry sky, thus conceived, is a freeze frame for a chosen moment in life. Each dial is made to measure with a map of the sky reflecting the day, time, and place that are relevant to the owner, making each watch a unique piece.
At nightfall, after being activated by a UV light, the drawn stars come to life to illuminate the chosen moment, thus suspending the passage of time. A new invitation to free yourself from time.
The new Trilobe Les Matinaux Collection L’Heure Exquise 'The Exquisite Hour' is powered by the X-Centric automatic calibre with a micro-rotor and moon phase module. This movement composed of 227 parts, 33 jewels, and black-gold plated bridges provides a power reserve of 48 hours while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph. The movement is fully visible via the display case back.
The Trilobe Les Matinaux Collection L’Heure Exquise 'The Exquisite Hour' is delivered on a blue or brown alligator strap with a pin buckle. The watches are equipped with a domed bezel with sapphire crystal and multi-layered anti-reflective treatment —ARDUR— and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on the back. The push button crown allows for adjustments of the moon phase indication and the watches are water resistant to 50 meters. The Secret model is available in a limited edition of 100 pieces with an 8-month delivery time after receipt of the order and is priced higher than the Blue and Dune counterparts.
