The figure eight layout on the dial of the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième just got much better with the addition of two satin-brushed finished dials, one in an anthracite color and the other in silver grey. The new Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed was released at Baselworld 2017 and is a watch that is instantly recognized by connoisseurs thanks to its two off-centered dials, direct-drive seconds hand and pointer-type date display highlighted with a touch of intense red. Jaquet Droz's signature figure eight is now displayed on a dial featuring a sunray finish, which helps capture and diffuse rays of light thus creating fascinating iridescence.
Things You Need to Know
Equipped with a mirror polished case measuring 39 mm for the silver grey dial and 43 mm for the anthracite dial, the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed is exclusively available in stainless steel. The sleek silhouette of the horns, the convex appliques and perfect curves of the bezel and steel case strengthen the remarkable purity of the case design.
Staying true to the DNA of the brand with its signature figure eight design, the dial features time indication at the top small subdial and seconds and date with pointer at the bottom large subdial.
While the anthracite colored dial model reference J007030248 features silver hands, the silver grey dial model reference J007010242 is fitted with blued hands that add perfect contrast and a nice touch of color.
Lastly, the date, located on an applied incline ring on the dial at six o’clock —at least for the silver grey dial reference—, brings an added touch of modernity to this work of visual architecture with a bright red '31'. This additional touch of color adds more character to the simplicity and clean design of the dial.
Playing on light and the meticulously studied volumes of the white gold indexes on the dial, these new Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed watches diffuse a distinctive brilliance, matched by the gleam of the new hand-made straps in light brown for the anthracite reference and slate gray alligator leather for the silver grey reference —both straps are fitted with stainless steel folding clasps.
Regardless of the difference in case sizes, both watches are powered by the same 30-jewel automatic Jaquet Droz calibre 2660Q2.P with silicon balance spring and pallet horns, double barrel, flat bridges and a skeletonized metal oscillating weight. The movement fully visible via the display case back provides a power reserve of 68 hours while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph.
