The new IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Oceana is yet another great addition to the line of pilot’s watches cased in ceramic and that were presented by IWC last year. This new watch features a monochromatic look with a blue ceramic case measuring 41.9 mm in diameter and a matching blue strap in rubber with denim textile inlay.
Taking inspiration from the Navy blue overall, a work uniform worn by pilots when carrying out arduous tasks aboard aircraft carriers, “Oceana” complements IWC’s colored ceramic portfolio presented at Watches & Wonders 2022. Colored ceramics result from a sophisticated manufacturing process in which zirconium oxide is mixed with other metallic oxides. Because the color changes during the sintering process, it takes countless trials and a lot of experience to determine the right blend of raw materials.
The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Oceana combines a blue ceramic case with a blue dial and a matching blue rubber strap with a denim finish textile inlay. The crown, pushers and case back are made of lightweight titanium. Powered by the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre, this chronograph movement in classic column-wheel design also features a day and date display at 3 o’clock. This 231-part movement provides a power reserve of 46 hours. A soft-iron inner case shields the movement from the effects of magnetic fields.
On the wrist, the IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Oceana wears true to its size and remarkably well. Another great color added to the line of pilot’s watches and a new type of strap that looks just amazing.
