In 2012, HYT created a buzz within the watchmaking community with its hybrid mechanical-fluidic technology allowing the time to be displayed using fluids. After a short hiatus ceasing operations in 2021, HYT was taken over by Kairos Technology Switzerland SA and appointed Davide Cerrato as CEO. Davide, a veteran of the watchmaking industry comes with a proven track record having worked with brands such as Panerai, Tudor, and Montblanc/Minerva. Now, in 2022 HYT returns with a totally new watch, the Hastroid. This first timepiece in the HYT saga is looking to explore new dimensions and bring new customers into the brand.
The HYT Hastroid has been designed and conceived to meet new expectations. Four new models will be joining this collection in a limited edition of 27 pieces each. The first model of the new HYT Hastroid is the Green Nebula. Sporting a 48 mm case, its construction combines titanium and carbon. Water-resistant up to 50 meters the watch is topped by a domed sapphire crystal offering a largely unobstructed view of the dial. At the center of the dial two central ‘bellow’ reservoirs take the center stage with the fluid capillary surrounding the dial. The colored fluid indicates the hours in a retrograde manner.
Detailed work went into improving the readability of the dial and thus it has a large central pointed hand for the immediate reading of the minutes, whereas the two subdials, arranged as instruments on a dashboard, provide essential additional information including a small seconds and a power reserve indicator.
Powering the new Hastroid Green Nebula is the manual wound calibre 501-CM with a power reserve of 72 hours. This calibre was designed by Eric Coudray with the assistance of watchmaker Paul Clementy and Arnaud Faivre, at the head of the Tec Group.
The HYT Hastroid Green Nebula is delivered on a black rubber strap with green Alcantara insert with green contrast stitching.
"We are engaged in a process of brilliant craftsmanship that flawlessly integrates fluidic technology and mechanical complexities. Meca-fluidic technology is a new term in science and research, harnessed for use in luxury watchmaking. We have the ability to highlight the symbiotic nature of these two —mechanical and fluidic— technologies" says Davide Cerrato, HYT CEO and creative director.
