A couple of weeks ago we brought you our hands-on review of the new HYT H1.0 collection, and we told you how much we fell in love with it. During Watches & Wonders Miami 2019, the HYT H.10 lineup got even better after the brand added a fourth model with black fluid giving the watch a fascinating color combination. Like we mentioned it before, the new HYT H1.0 is the natural evolution and progression of the minimalist design of the H0 Origin released two years ago at Baselworld 2017. The new HYT H1.0 Black Fluid rises above with an even more futuristic approach as the capillary tube is filled with black fluid and the glass capillary features superluminova C7 in vintage mint green color underneath.
Available in three other different fluid colors —blue, red and green— the new HYT 1.0 Black Fluid ref. H02095-A is perhaps the most striking of all four models in the new H1.0 collection.
Things to Know About the Watch
The H1.0 Black Fluid features three-dimensional transparency. Viewed from any angle, it takes an architectural approach to visualize the passage of time, placing the present in the context of the past and future, using liquids. Furthermore, the H1.0 Black Fluid features milled numerals and milled hour markers filled with superluminova for that extra pop of color in the dark.
The H1.0 Black Fluid comes with an anthracite DLC coated stainless steel case —like that on the Red Fluid H1.0—measuring 48.8 mm in diameter and 20.08 mm in thickness. Moreover, perhaps, the most significant functional improvement between the H0 and the new H1.0 is that the latter features a screw-down crown —with a perforated design instead of the spiral one— that guarantees better water resistance, even though the 50-meter rating remains unchanged.
The dial of the new H1.0 Black Fluid is also skeletonized like on the other new H1.0 models with anthracite hour counter. The milled markers and numerals just like the anthracite minute counter with the minute hand are filled with mint green superluminova. The running seconds indicator is shaped as a turbine at 9 o’clock and at 3 o’clock a gauge-type power reserve indicator features a red hand and red segment for this particular model.
In the case of the H1.0 Black Fluid, the dial is even more legible than that on the other H1.0 watches. The regulator layout is easy to read, and it just takes a little bit of time to get used to how the black colored fluid marks the hours. In low light or dark environments, the superluminova C7 applied throughout the watch glows very bright making the watch even more appealing. If you like lume as much as we do, this watch brings the word ‘lume’ to the next level.
The Movement
Powering the new HYT H1.0 Black Fluid is the manual wound calibre HYT 401 instead of the HYT 101 powering the H0 Origin. This 35-jewel movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 to provide a power reserve of 65 hours. This amazing movement with HYT’s exclusive patented micro-fluidic module includes two multi-layer metal bellows, borosilicate glass capillary tube with nano-coating interior, two immiscible liquids —one transparent and the other colored with a highly resistant dye—, thermal compensator with dedicated bellows containing a special liquid and ceramic fluid restrictors.
On the Wrist & Pricing
On the wrist, the new HYT H1.0 Black Fluid wears true to its size and exceptionally lovely. A stunner in person and priced right for such a great example high horology. The H1.0 Black Fluid is fitted with a grey rubber strap with titanium folding buckle with anthracite PVD coating. One of the best-looking watches ever released by HYT and our second favorite —after the red fluid— from the just-released H1.0 collection.
