Insider: Hublot Big Bang Sky Blue Limited Edition

Hublot Big Bang Sky Blue

It’s been a year since the Hublot Big Bang Sky Blue was released and today we bring you our hands-on review of it. When we first saw the stock images for the watch we loved it. But after perusing the watch, all we can say is wow. Hublot has been mastering the use of ceramics in their watches for a very long time and creating a baby blue watch was not an easy operation.

Things to Know About the Watch

Cloaked in a 45 mm baby blue ceramic case the Hublot Big Bang Sky Blue invites you on a journey from Mykonos to Ibiza via Saint-Tropez, by way of Buenos Aires. With a tripartite case construction that combines blue and white ceramic, this watch could’ve been the perfect rendition for an Argentinean limited edition as the colors of the case perfectly match the Argentinean flag. Honestly, it is hard not to think about Argentina when looking at this watch.

We can totally see ourselves wearing this watch while in Buenos Aires sitting down at a ‘Parrilla’ —steakhouse— and drinking some Malbec to wash down a medium-rare ‘entraña’ —skirt steak. And while we are not the biggest fans of ceramic watches here at WCL, this is one of the few ceramic watches that we would totally be wearing all the time.

Beneath a minimalist appearance, its pale blue reveals nonetheless a material whose resistance to wear is undisputed. This is ceramic, which Hublot has come to master. In 2019, Hublot created ceramic in bright colors, a patented world first. Since then, all —or almost all— of the Pantone colors are within its reach. The new Hublot Big Bang Unico Sky Blue brings together two Hublot essentials: the iconic Big Bang model and the Swiss watchmaker’s material of choice. A watch and a material that has been writing Hublot’s history for 15 years. It’s partially open-worked dial with matching blue flange and chrono counter is a treat for the eyes as the silver tones of the numerals and the rings blend in a soothing color combination.

Delivered on a blue rubber strap with white edging and backing as well as a second strap in white canvas fabric with velcro fastening system, the Hublot Big Bang Sky Blue sits right in between where the blues of the water and the sky unite endlessly.

The rubber strap is fastened by the traditional Hublot deployant folding clasp in titanium —matching the pushers and crown on the watch—, while the fabric strap features a baby blue ceramic buckle.
