After the success of the first iteration of the Hermès H08 designed in 2021 by Philippe Delhotal, now comes the H08 chronograph. Sculpted from a block of multilayered composite, the cushion-shaped 41 mm case of the Hermès H08 Chronograph is made of a high-performance material composed of carbon fiber and coated with graphene powder. The bezel is made of ceramic with a sunburst satin-brushed finish and the crown in PVD titanium.
By contrast, the satin-finished and polished titanium bezel tops a textured case middle, while the black PVD-coated crown incorporates an orange-rimmed monopusher at 3 o’clock. This discreet, intuitive single button serves to activate the chronograph’s start, stop and reset functions by successive presses.
The concrete colored dial is made of black-gold-treated and blackened with rhodium plated applied Arabic numerals coated with SuperLumiNova, white and orange transfers, black-gold hands coated with SuperLumiNova and orange varnished seconds and counters hands. The interplay of materials and finishes highlights the depth of the concrete colored dial, with a 30-minute chrono register at 9 o’clock, running seconds at 3 o’clock and a discreet date aperture between 4 and 5.
Powering this new watch is the Hermès in-house movement calibre H1837 with a chronograph module that has been added to it. This automatic movement composed of 193 parts and 28 jewels provides a power reserve of 46 hours.
On the wrist, the Hermès H08 Monopusher Chronograph wears true to its size and very light. A wonderful sporty watch for those looking for an underrated timepiece that won’t break the bank. The H08 Chronograph is paired with an orange rubber strap featuring a structure reminiscent of Hermès weaving.
