Hendrick’s Gin is produced by the family-owned William Grant & Sons distillery in Scottland and their gin is distilled at the Girvan distillery that mainly focuses on distilling whiskey. What makes Hendrick’s so unique is their blend of nine botanicals that include Bulgarian roses and specially selected cucumbers. While the rest of their botanicals —orange peel, yarrow, juniper berries, angelica root, and orris root amongst others—, are more common across most gins, the subtle notes of roses and cucumber make Hendricks’s well suited for mixing with other spirits or liqueurs to create the most perfect summer cocktails.
Orbium is a reimagining of Hendrick's Gin is a quinine gin instilled with additional extracts of quinine, wormwood, and lotus blossom, the result is an oddly exquisite gin that sits roundly on the palate, complementing the cucumber and rose essences characteristic of Hendrick’s. Available in a limited edition, Hendrick’s Orbium is distilled in exceedingly small batches and has a finite window of existence.
Bottled in a deep blue apothecary-style bottle reminiscent of the blue dial on the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time ref. 7900, we couldn’t think of a better watch to pair this bottle of Hendrick’s with. The color for the bottle takes its inspiration by the key essence of the blue lotus blossom.
Hendrick’s Orbium contains the same distillates as Hendrick's Gin; however, the same remarkable mind that broke conventions by infusing gin with essences of cucumber and rose has now taken gin in an altogether new direction by infusing flavors that are traditionally associated with classic gin libations; quinine found in tonic —Gin & Tonic— and wormwood found in Vermouth.
The addition of lotus blossom exquisitely balances the overall flavor; but, the trinity of essences together creates a complex gin with surprising brightness and a finish that is uncommonly long and perfect for the martini-obsessed. The mint green label features an 'all-seeing eye' as a continuous circle and a reference back to this gin’s rounded character.
Orbium derives from the word 'orb', the plural of Orbis, and the Latin for circle. It is inspired by Master Distiller Lesley's Gracie description of the liquid's journey. It represents the spherical round taste that Lesley refers to when describing Hendrick's house style.
Perfectly suited for a classic Martini with dry Vermouth, Orbium is also fantastic in a traditional G&T. Hendrick's Orbium delivers an enhanced quinine experience that turns your G&T into a much bolder and spicier drink. Available in limited batches and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
