For 2022, a model from the luxurious Premier collection has been selected to deliver a joyous message of love. The many facets of love are portrayed by a bouquet of heart-shaped balloons made of precious gemstones and mother-of-pearl cabochons floating in an ethereal mother-of-pearl sky in a limited edition of only 14 pieces.
Housed in a gleaming 18K white gold model case measuring 36 mm in diameter and covered in diamonds, the new Premier Valentine’s Flying Hearts Automatic 36 mm features colored balloons that are assembled in a bright bouquet to depict the giddy, light-headed sensation of romantic love. Combining semi-precious materials like mother-of-pearl with precious gemstones, the colorful balloons on the dial float in a cloudy white mother-of-pearl sky.
Using a palette of colors associated with love and romance, the heart-shaped balloons are filled with 30 rich red brilliant-cut rubies,26 powder pink sapphires, 24 white diamonds, and a few mother-of-pearl cabochons in the same shades. To create a livelier, more dynamic composition, the precious gemstone balloons play with different-sized stones set using a grain setting. This technique holds the stones in place with tiny prongs appearing like beads and allows the jewels to pulsate with light like miniature beating hearts.
The beauty of natural beaded mother-of-pearl is its iridescence, which plays subtly with the ambient light. This precious material is used across the plump red, pink, and white cabochon hearts bursting with volume and brightening the white background scene. Between the radiant light emitted by the precious gemstones, and the delicate luster of mother-of-pearl, the different colors and textures symbolize the countless facets of love.
The twenty heart-shaped balloons are fastened to twisted gold threads, another allusion to the powerful ties that arise in a passionate relationship. In yet another charming manifestation of love, two large heart-shaped rubies secure the twisted gold threads in place for a lifetime. In pride of place, at 12 o’clock there is a generous emerald-cut diamond. Not only was it Mr. Winston’s favorite cut for gemstones, but it is also the iconic shape and signature of the House. The Harry Winston decal is discreetly placed on the right side of the dial to ensure a perfect view of the lovely scenery.
As far as the case, the 18K white gold case of the Premier Valentine’s Flying Hearts Automatic 36 mm is covered with the sparkles of 57 brilliant-cut diamonds. The central hours and minutes hands pierce a red heart-shaped balloon on the dial and keep impeccable time thanks to the high-end mechanical automatic movement visible through the sapphire crystal case back. Equipped with a flat silicon balance spring to ensure superlative precision over time, the balance beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph and the movement can deliver up to 72 hours of power reserve. The 18K rose gold rotor in the movement is skeletonized, allowing a view of the finishings with circular Côtes de Genève and circular graining.
The Premier Valentine’s Flying Hearts Automatic 36 mm is delivered on a shiny red alligator strap and is attached to the wrist with an 18K white gold pin buckle set with a flourish of 17 brilliant-cut diamonds.
