For days since we published the news last week, there were strong rumors across social media and via some major watch dealers that the owners at The Timepiece Gentleman —Gentleman Timepieces— were simply working on a PR stunt and had not vanished with millions of dollars in consignment inventory and funding money. Today, they have released a video that proves that they did not vanish but were instead giving back to the community. The biggest PR stunt and we now feel awful for giving them so much free exposure. I guess, we can only say, you are welcome!
Kudos to them for supporting good causes, but shame on them for not clearing up the air right away as this situation affected the whole watch industry. This PR stunt went a little too far. Here at WCL we can now consider this developing story officially closed. At least there’s a good ending and great media exposure for the Timepiece Gentleman.
