Endowed with a relatively small case in 18K rose gold measuring 38.5 mm wide and 38.8 mm long, the new L.U. Chopard Heritage Grand Cru is one of the most traditional and elegant looking watches from this young manufacture. Similar in looks to a Cartier, the Heritage Grand Cru is fitted with a white lacquered dial with black Roman numerals and small red accents. though it is a slim 7.74mm high. It’s wound via a 22k gold micro-rotor linked to a rocker, and has twin barrels for a 65-hour power reserve. Like most of Chopard’s top of the line movements, the L.U.C 97.01-L bears the Poinçon de Genève, or Geneva Seal, hallmark and is recognisably well finished.
The Dial
The Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru features a gorgeous and very elegant dial made out of white lacquer and with a prominent black Roman numerals chapter ring with railway minute track. The dial is well balanced and features running seconds at 6 o'clock with superimposed date aperture and small red accents along the seconds track at 60, 15, 30 and 45. The hands with a very unique shape like lancets are made of 18K rose gold matching the metal of the case.
The Case
The case made of 18K fairmined rose gold has a very slim profile under 8 mm and combines a satin brushed finish on the caseband and side of the lugs with a highly polished bezel and highly polished case back. The watch is equipped with a classic looking chocolate brown alligator strap with pin buckle in 18K rose gold.
The Movement
Providing a power reserve of 65 hours, the beating heart inside the Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru is the ultra-thin in-house calibre L.U.C 97.01-L based off of the 96.01. This automatic movement is self wound thanks to a 22K gold micro rotor linked to a rocker and twin barrels. As all in-house Chopard movements, this movement is certified with the Poinçon de Genève —Geneva Seal.
On the Wrist & Pricing
The new Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru wears slightly bigger than its actual size and more like a 40 mm watch. This is for sure a watch that has an amazing wrist presence thanks to its elegant dial that combined with the alligator strap, exudes ultimate classiness.
