The new Cartier Santos Dumont XL with Stone Numerals is presented in a limited edition of 200 pieces each in 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold, and platinum. Each watch bears a different type of stone in its Roman numerals and the dial is cut directly into the stone allowing for the numerals to protrude over the surface. The different dials include jasper, jade, and dumortierite. The cream dial features a hand guilloché center with the traditional Chemin de Fer minute track on the periphery of the dial. For each model, the cabochon matches the color of the stone Roman numerals. The cases measure 46.6 mm x 33.9 mm in what is considered as the extra large size for this collection.
The yellow gold model features a dial in dumortierite, the rose gold model in jade, and the platinum in jasper. Dumortierite is a rare mineral found as fibrous inclusions within quartz and it is usually a dark or navy blue. Meanwhile, jasper is an opaque rock with a unique burnt red color, while jade is a mineral in different variations of green to white.
All three watches are powered by the manual wound Cartier calibre 430 MC and delivered on alligator straps matching the tone of the dial.
Sticker Price €21,300 Euro —approx $23,000 USD— for platinum and €16,100 Euro —approx $17,500 USD— for either gold model. For more info on Cartier click here.
