The 7th edition of Only Watch was held this past Saturday November 11th, 2017 in Geneva, in the presence of watchmaking manufactures’ representatives, collectors and philanthropists, alongside 350 supporters in the room and many more bidders and participants online and on the phone. The 50 lots composed of unique watches and exceptional experiences were auctioned by Christie’s to bidders from 45 different countries. With a total of CHF 10,776,500 Swiss Francs raised, one of the watches that we followed closely was the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar ONLY Watch Piece Unique.
This exceptional fundraising for research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy with a total of 49 participating brands, broke some interesting records with watches like this Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar ONLY Watch Piece Unique selling for CHF 800,000 Swiss Francs —$830,000 USD— including buyer's premium.
With an initial estimate between CHF 80,000-120,000 Swiss Francs —$83,000 to $124,000 USD—, this very unique Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in black ceramic with a ‘skylight’ royal blue Grande Tapisserie dial ref. 26599CE sold well above its original estimates leaving everyone in awe. This is yet another interesting result at the watch auctions that keeps confirming that there is a lot of money out there.
