The new Angelus Chronodate Titanium ‘Fern Green’ boasts a 42.5 mm case that continues the neo-retro spirit of this sporty chronograph. With a look somewhat resemblant to the vintage IWC Porsche Design watches from the past —especially when on a bracelet—, the Angelus Chronodate comes with a sleek vintage aura in a very contemporary execution.
For this new model, Angelus has chosen to give the Chronodate imposing black counters and red accents that offer optimal readability against the subtle green dial fittingly described as ‘fern green’ and that is punctuated with large applied Arabic numerals with superluminova. Meanwhile, the date is indicated by a pointer hand with a red tip in conjunction with the inner flange showing the date. Depending on the lighting conditions the dial turns into a complete chameleon exuding different shades of green.
The winding crown and pushers also feature red accents to make the watch look even sportier.
The Angelus Chronodate Titanium 'Fern Green' is powered by a movement housed in a container machined from a carbon-fiber composite. Around this container, Angelus has designed an attachment system consisting of an open-worked cradle that brings the case middle and lugs into a single line, made of titanium.
The Angelus calibre A-500 displays the small seconds at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock. This automatic movement incorporates a column wheel and an oscillating weight in tungsten shaped like a capital letter ‘A’ above a star —Angelus’ emblem. This touch is a reference to the early days of Angelus right at the heart of the mechanism.
The Angelus Chronodate Titanium 'Fern Green' is delivered on a titanium bracelet or on a black rubber strap. The bracelet construction and design are very similar to the Porsche Design vintage watches and the bracelet is very comfortable.
The Angelus Chronodate Titanium 'Fern Green' wears true to its size and remarkably well. Surprisingly, the weight of the watch is not as light as we would’ve expected considering the titanium construction. Regardless, the watch wears extremely well and very comfortably.
