Black dials and black calendar discs characterize the latest A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Outsize Date watches available in pink or white gold. The signature Lange outsize date sports a new design and much better look now that the white discs with black numerals have been replaced by the black ones with white printed numerals. The latest newcomer in the Saxonia watch family combines exciting design elements with technical finesse. Now endowed with an outsize date display, the new calibre L086.8 movement powering the Saxonia ensures that the debut timepiece will run with benchmark dependability. The ingenious configuration with separate displays for the units and tens ranks among A. Lange & Söhne’s most extraordinary technical developments and since it is hard to perceive the exceptional craftsmanship of a Lange timepiece in pictures, we ask you to go see one in person before you can pass any judgement.
Things to Know About the Watch
With a relatively small case for current times, the A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Outsize Date comes with a 38.5 mm case relatively thin at less than ten millimeters. Perfectly finished with a satin-brushed caseband and highly polished bezel and case back, the Saxonia Outsize Date is equipped with the signature rectangular pusher at 10 o'clock that is conveniently utilized to set the date.
The solid silver black galvanized dial is very well balanced with double date aperture at 12 o'clock, a running seconds indicator at 6 o'clock and the fine rhodiumed gold hands and applied baton markers.
The white minute track against the black dial provides perfect readability. In the Saxonia Outsize Date, the date discs of the precisely centered outsize date are black and feature white printed numerals to match the black galvanized solid silver dial.
The Movement
The new A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Outsize Date is powered by the Lange in-house automatic calibre L086.8 with a large central rotor with an outer centrifugal mass in platinum that keeps the mainspring tensioned for a maximum power reserve of 72 hours achieved with only one mainspring barrel. Additional technical and artisanal highlights include a classic screw balance with a free-sprung Lange hairspring, the three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver and the manually engraved balance cock with the characteristic whiplash spring for precision beat adjustments. Composed of 286 parts and 40 jewels, the movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 vph.
