The new A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 reflects A. Lange & Söhne’s ambition to achieve ever-new milestones in horology and it was first presented in 2013. Its true grandeur comes from the numerous remarkable details around its dial and generous 41 mm case. Up until the release of two new models at Watches & Wonders 2022, the Grand Lange 1 was exclusively available in four different versions that included the 25th anniversary model in white gold with silver dial, the platinum with rhodié dial, the white gold model with a black dial, and the pink gold model with silver dial. Additionally, all previous iterations of the Grand Lange 1 featured a relatively thicker case at 8.8 mm.
Now, the A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 is slightly slimmer at 8.2 mm and is now also available in 18K white or 18K pink gold with a grey dial. The new dial features a grainy finish and the layout remains just as in the previous iterations of this watch. The off-centered display of the time, the Lange outsize date, and the power-reserve indicator are as convenient as it gets for reading the time and the date.
The Movement
The new Grand Lange 1 is powered by the proven L095.1 manual wound calibre which consists of 397 parts that are elaborately finished by hand. As usual for Lange, it is assembled twice and with only one mainspring barrel, it attains a maximum power reserve of 72 hours. The movement is exquisitely finished in German silver and visible via the display case back.
On the Wrist & Price
On the wrist, the new Grand Lange 1 wears true to its size and more comfortably under a shirt cuff thanks to its slimmer case profile. A gorgeous watch for the most discerning watch collectors that love German timepieces and the perfectionism that characterizes A. Lange & Söhne.
