After the successful release in 2012 of the first MB&F MoonMachine in partnership with Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva, comes the new MB&F MoonMachine 2. A new watch that adds up to the Performance Art Pieces Collection composed of very limited edition timepieces where MB&F had collaborated with artists they admire including Xia Hang, Alain Silberstein and Black Badger amongst others. The MoonMachine by Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva was the first of the MB&F Performance Art pieces reinterpreted by a watchmaker and the first to endow a Horological Machine with a new complication.

The result of a collaboration between Reuge —the mechanical music box and singing birds specialists— and Nicolas Court, one of Switzerland’s most talented automaton experts comes a set of two automatons —a first for MB&F— named ‘Kelys & Chirp’. The first, a walking turtle and the latter his singing bird companion, are both fully mechanical creatures. By pressing Kelys’ tail, this turtle will start to gently walk across the table in an amazingly realistic turtle-like gait. After a few seconds, another surprise is revealed when one of the scales on his back opens up and his friend Chirp pops out, flapping her wings vigorously and singing loudly.

Available in three limited editions of 50 pieces each in black PVD, blue PVD, and palladium, the new MB&F Octopod Clock measures 11 inches —28 centimeters— long by 11 inches high while standing and 17.7 inches —45 centimeters— long by 8.6 inches —22 centimeters— high while crouching. Extremely heavy with a total weight of 4.2 kilos —approximately 9.25 pounds—, this collaboration with L'Epée 1839 is the latest addition to the family of clocks released by the brand in the past years.

Baselworld 2017: MB&F Destination Moon Clock by L'Epée. Live Pictures & Pricing.
Continuing with their space and sci-fi creations, MB&F is presenting the new clock in partnership with legendary clock maker L'Epée. The new MB&F Destination Moon with the architecture of L’Epée’s eight-day movement follows the basic engineering of a real spaceship. Power in a rocket comes from its base and the power for Destination Moon comes from the oversized winding crown in its base.

The new MB&F Horological Machine No. 7 HM7 Aquapod is by far the craziest and coolest MB&F released to date. Inspired by a jellyfish and the ocean, the watch is unlike anything else they have ever released. As part of their recent collaboration with James Thompson a.k.a 'Black Badger', MB&F has just released at Baselworld 2016, a new iteration of their Starfleet Machine launched during Baselworld 2014 and that we reviewed here. This new clock named MB&F Starfleet Machine Black Badger is just like the first Starfleet Machine clock by L'Epée 1839 and MB&F —from an horological and functioning standpoint— but more visually striking thanks to the long lasting luminescent material added for this release.
