Vacheron Constantin is pleased to announce that Alexander Schmiedt —a native of Austria— will become the new President of Vacheron Constantin Americas, as of July 1, 2021. Mr. Schmiedt will oversee offices in New York and Miami and will be taking over the role that was previously held by Ms. Leslie Kobrin who was appointed President of the Americas on April 1, 2017. Ms. Leslie Kobrin left Van Cleef & Arpels to replace Vincent Brun at the time.
Since 2016, Alexander Schmiedt has held the position of Vacheron Constantin Brand Director for the Middle East, based in Dubai, where he successfully grew the Maison’s recognition and strength in the region. Prior to joining Vacheron Constantin, Alexander was Managing Director of the Watches Division at Montblanc International; a part of Richemont Group. In his eleven-year tenure at Montblanc, Alexander was also responsible for product development and marketing of the brand’s timepieces.
Holding a Master of Law degree from Vienna University, Alexander’s professional career began in the field of luxury timepieces when he joined his family’s business; Schmiedt & Co. which served as distributors for watch brands in his native Austria and Central Europe. He pursued his MBA at the Wharton School of Management in the United States then began working for Boston Consulting Group in Germany, before joining Richemont Group.
In his current role, Alexander will continue to develop Vacheron Constantin’s United States, Canadian, Latin American, and Caribbean markets. His understanding of timepieces and deep business acumen will support Vacheron Constantin’s growth across the Americas.
Speaking out on his appointment, Mr. Schmiedt shared:
“For someone who is passionate about timepieces, it is an honor for me to work for Vacheron Constantin. I look forward to sharing the Maison’s approach to fine watchmaking in the North American Flagship, opening this summer in New York City. The new boutique will offer a glimpse into a culture rooted in human values, craftmanship, and technical innovation, and immerse visitors in the exceptional ‘one of not many’ spirit of Vacheron Constantin.”
