For their second collaboration, Bvlgari and MB&F—Fabrizio and Max—chose to reinterpret one of Bvlgari’s most famous historical creations, the iconic Serpenti watch, which first appeared in Bvlgari’s creations in 1948. There are three different versions to choose from—two in titanium and one in 18K rose gold—, each limited to only 33 pieces.

After four years, MB&F collaborates once again with master engraver Eddy Jaquet announcing a eight new Pièces Uniques inspired by the great classics of youth literature. You may recall their previous collaboration with Eddy Jaquet, launched in 2020 and inspired by the novels of Jules Verne; that first series of eight unique pieces would go on to win the prestigious GPHG Artistic Crafts Award in 2021. Now, MB&F is delighted to release a second series of eight unique pieces, this time inspired by classic novels.
Introducing: MB&F Albatross X L’Epée 1839
After 10 years and 15 different clocks, the L’Epée 1839 X MB&F Albatross is by far the most technically audacious co-creation by the two companies. Totaling a whopping 1520 components, Albatross features a striking hour function —chiming both the specific hours on the hour and a single strike on the half-hour— and an automaton composed of 16 pairs of propellers that launch into action every hour.

Introducing MB&F The Milimilians a bunch of collectible, alien-like creatures with heads modeled after our Horological and Legacy Machines. There’s Minimilian Frog with its pop-out eyes, Minimilian Thunderbolt with those aviation vibes, and Minimilian Aquapod with its chubby round face. Since kicking off in 2005, MB&F has rolled out over 20 different calibres in about 30 distinct case shapes, and now each one has its matching figurine. And yes, their name is a nod to a well-known member of the MB&F team.
From the Editor: Hands-on with the New MB&F LM Sequential Flyback. A Platinum 33-Piece Limited Edition.
The Legacy Machine Sequential EVO, conceived by Stephen McDonnell, was MB&F’s first-ever chronograph. A ground-breaking dual chronograph that not only fixed the inherent flaws of conventional chronograph design but also offered a combination of timing modes that was unique. Now comes the new MB&F LM Sequential Flyback where Stephen McDonnell decided to go above and beyond by adding a Flyback function via the pusher at 8 and 4 o’clock respectively.

The MB&F HM8 Mark 2 was initially offered in white or British racing green CarbonMacrolon and now is being presented in blue in a limited edition of 33 pieces. The time is indicated by bi-directional jumping hours and trailing minutes, displayed by dual reflective sapphire crystal prisms with integrated magnifying lenses, and the battle axe rotor that powers the movement is incredibly complex to make as one of the 22K gold blades is only two-tenths of a millimeter thick.
Introducing: MB&F LM FlyingT Onyx. The Fifth Iteration in the Stone Dial Saga.
In 2021, MB&F started adding other stone dials including a malachite dial version, a tiger eye dial, and last year the brand presented the 'Coeur de Rubis' dial —aka anyolite, which is a combination of Ruby within Zoisite and is also known as Ruby Zoisite. Today, the brand continues the stone dial saga for the LM FlyingT and presents the fifth iteration with an Onyx dial.
Introducing: MB&F LM Perpetual EVO Icy Blue
First presented in 2020, the MB&F LM Perpetual EVO was first released with a zirconium case and three dial plates in PVD/CVD colors, including black, blue, and atomic orange. A year later, a titanium edition with a green CVD dial plate followed. Now in 2024, MB&F is adding a new icy blue dial plate in the same highly resistant titanium case, replacing its green predecessor.

As I wrap up the year here at WCL, I decided to put together a list of my favorite 12 watches of 2023. Each of these watches sang to me one way or another during 2023 so I thought it would be good to share with all of you and celebrate each of the months of the year that is now ending. There is a little bit of everything for everyone, from Vacheron Constantin to Ferdinand Berthoud and everything in between including IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Tudor. Now let’s take a look at the best watches of 2023.
Introducing: MB&F Horological Machine No. 11 Architect (Live Pictures)
The ‘bubble houses’ were enabled by evolutions in building technology, using materials and methods that seemed wildly implausible at first —or at least until someone actually made a house with one. And so, it is with the MB&F Horological Machine No. 11 Architect. The new MB&F Horological Machine No. 11 Architect is literally the house that Max Büsser built. And when Maximilian Büsser, founder of MB&F, looked at one of these bubble houses from the 1960s and 1970s, he thought, “What if that house was a watch?”
Introducing: H. Moser & Cie. X MB&F Streamliner Pandamonium for ONLY Watch
Baptized the H. Moser X MB&F Streamliner Pandamonium, it features a minute repeater complication led by a miniature DJing panda, a creature that has become the signature of the ONLY Watch creations by MB&F. Maximilian Büsser and Edouard Meylan have collaborated for a second time for the ONLY Watch charity auction organized to raise funds for the Monegasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy, co-creating an exceptional one-off piece dedicated to music.
Introducing: MB&F HM9-SV Sapphire Vision Blue and Green Editions
This time, the MB&F HM9 SV Sapphire Vision is being presented in two new editions in sapphire crystal, again limited to only five pieces each: the first one with an 18K yellow gold frame with green-CVD movement, and the second one with an 18K white gold frame with blue-CVD movement. An outer hull of sapphire crystal and precious metal, curved and bubbled and precisely fitted together in three parts, is sealed with a proprietary combination of a patented three-dimensional gasket and a high-tech compound bonding process.

Alebrijes, Tonas, and Nahuales are vibrant and captivating sculptures of Mexican folk art. The story begins with a visionary artist named Pedro Linares López. Born in Mexico City in 1906, Pedro grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of La Merced, known for its bustling markets and traditional art scene. From a young age, Pedro displayed a talent for sculptures and papier-mâché works of art, which he learned from his family, who were artisans themselves.

First launched in 2019, the Legacy Machine FlyingT was MB&F’s first-ever machine dedicated to women. Then in 2020, they were joined by limited editions in red gold and platinum, featuring guilloche dials as well as a Lapis Lazuli dial and an 18K white gold case set with diamonds. In 2021, MB&F added a malachite dial version, and in 2022 a tiger eye dial. Now comes a diamond-set edition in an 18K white gold case with a dial plate in ‘Cœur de Rubis’ —anyolite— in a limited edition of 5 pieces that are sold exclusively by PMT The Hour Glass in Bangkok.

MB&F’s connection to cars runs deep, starting in 2012 with the HM5, followed by the HMX in 2015, and the HM8 in 2016. Each of these iterations is linked by its instantly recognizable speedometer-style display on the side of the case that recalls the daring and futuristic design of the 1970s. A decade after their first automotive-inspired MB&F Machines, now comes the HM8 Mark 2, the most technologically evolved model to date.

To celebrate the iconic LMX, MB&F brings a beautiful new edition featuring a stunning purple dial plate encased in a complementary white gold case. The new MB&F LMX Paris Edition will be exclusively available at the Parisian MB&F LAB on Rue Saint-Honoré and limited to only 15 pieces. Originally launched in 2021 to celebrate 10 years of horological machines, the first versions of the LMX were released as follows: 18 pieces in 18K red gold with black NAC treatment on plates and bridges; 33 pieces in grade 5 titanium with green CVD treatment on plates and bridges; and 33 “Steel & Brass” pieces in 316L stainless steel with a frosted face.
From Editor: Come Inside the MB&F M.A.D. House. Their new HQ and Atelier.
While I was in Geneva attending Watches & Wonders 2023 at the end of March and the beginning of this month, I was invited by MB&F to come to see their new headquarters and atelier. The newly opened space is called the MB&F M.A.D. House and it was beyond a pleasant surprise and an honor to be there. While their previous headquarters were located in Old Town Geneva as part of their MB&F M.A.D. Gallery, the new MB&F M.A.D. House is located in the municipality of Carouge about 15 minutes away from the M.A.D Gallery.
Introducing: MB&F LM Perpetual Stainless Steel Salmon Dial. A First for the Brand.
Now, MB&F is adding a stainless steel version with a salmon-colored dial which is one of the most unique combinations presented by the brand. Over the last 18 years, they have rarely crafted cases in stainless steel, and only once they have created a salmon dial. Also, this unique combination is not a limited edition but will be limited by production.
Introducing: MB&F LM2 Palladium. Celebrating 10 Years of the Timepiece with Dual Flying Balances.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the MB&F Legacy Machine No. 2 , the LM2 returns cloaked in palladium in a limited edition of 18 pieces with an aquamarine —light teal green— sunray dial. Initially launched in 18K white gold with a dark grey dial, in 18K red gold with a silver dial and in an 18-piece limited edition in platinum with a blue dial, the LM2 was the first MB&F timepiece to have two suspended balance wheels above its dial.
